Not a great traveller, but a good mate...
Review of Acer TravelMate 7520-402G16Mi - Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.9 GHz - 17" TFT by
readie25
Advantages: Well-presented, feature-packed laptop
Disadvantages: A touch slow for modern gaming
The Acer Travelmate series come generally very well-equipped to be competent laptop computers for the modern age, and the 7520 is no exception. Using the same Turion 64x2 that is quite standard in its Travelmate range, the 7520 is quick to boot; the 2GB of RAM is quite sufficient for multimedia applications such as watching DVDs - well provided for by a very able DVD drive and a very nicely presented, clear screen. As well as this, the product is ... ...for long periods, with a great touchpad.
However, the screen is quite easily scratched and the battery life is really rather poor - typically you can expect approximately 80 mins on 'high performance', or longer on the more frugal but less useful 'balanced' and 'power saver' options.
A great value laptop, and a very good buy ...

Decent all rounder, ideal for Students
Review of Toshiba Tecra A9 by
dmilligan935
Advantages: Very Durable
Disadvantages: Processor a little small
A laptop that is hugely durable, i have taken it on many business trips, and it has survived in my luggage bags with merely a few scrapes on the outer casing, would definitely recommend this to a user that travels alot. I find that the battery lasts for around 1 hour and 45 mins but don't keep it in the charger all the time because i have noticed that it does shorten the battery life. The laptop is very user friendly, with easy access for any maintenance ... ...quite a good pickup range. I find that this laptop is best used for word processing etc and it weaknesses is dealing with multimedia applications such as photoshop, dream weaver etc, the processor just cant seem to handle programs like these., other than that it is a good all round laptop and ideal price for students. ...

One book worth a read.
Review of Apple iBook G4 - PPC G4 1 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
Ideate
Advantages: Functionality, Speed, Look
Disadvantages: Minimal
Having not owned an Apple product before, i took a leap of faith into the unknown when i decided to buy this version, now i've had it for over 2years and i am still impressed. Even now it doesn't seem outdated with its slim 14" screen, sleek apple touch keyboard, and white gloss finish. It comes as standard with a 'slot' style loading drive which saves time and potential breakages. The laptop comes with quite a few trick features including colour ... ...hard drive - incase you drop it! The only niggles on this model are the USB port being on the left side which can make apple mice a reach for right handed people and its clunky 'plastic' style click on the track buttons. For the money prepare to be impressed! ...
