Acer Aspire 7720
Review of Acer Aspire 7720 - Core 2 Duo T7300 - 17" TFT by techno_man_37

Advantages: its speed and performance
Disadvantages: rubbish webcam

...a very new one from acer and is being used in more and more of their laptops because of its popularity with customers. It does have split opinions however, some love it and some people really cant stand the look of it. I however think its great, its black and cream colour, with a lovely glossy lid looks cool and very neat and tidy. Also what I like about this Is its clearly a design that acer has come up with and kept, and it clearly represents their ...
...the same as others and you cant tell what brand they are, this however, much like the look of apples imacs you can tell they belong to which company. The installed ram on this laptop is great, it has a massive 2gb which is the main reason this laptop runs so fast, also its intel core 2 duo T7300 which is one of the newest processors makes this laptop run so fast. And if the 2 gb isn't enough for you (although I cant see this amount ever not being ... Read review

Brains AND beauty - the 6920 has it all
Review of Acer Aspire 6920G-814G32Bn - Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1 GHz - 16" TFT by technosplat

Advantages: Speed, reliability, stunning good looks
Disadvantages: Quite heavy, will make everything else seem a bit uglier

...out of the house. The Acer 6920 changes all that. We needed a laptop for our photographic business, so it had to be fast, powerful and reliable. The Intel Core2 Duo produces a staggering amount of clock speed, around 5 GhZ if you add it up in real terms. Coupled with 4Gb RAM (good quality stuff too), an impressive DEDICATED graphics card and beautiful glass-fronted display, the 6920 meets all the geeky criteria and some! However, the specs (as ...
...No. That, ladies and gentlemen, is it's looks. It - is - stunning. No other way to describe such a beautifully created machine. I'm convinced no supermodels would have one though - if they were sitting next to it, everyone would be gawping at the laptop instead... Glossy plastic with lights behind, touch-pad controls, a fingerprint scanner - enough gadgets to put James Bond out of business. The components are of very high quality and we've not ... Read review

Acer Aspire 3003LC
Review of Acer Aspire 3003LC - Mobile Sempron 3000+ 1.8 GHz - 15" TFT by FrankBee

Advantages: Great for new users, looks good, light and good value for money
Disadvantages: None so far

Acer Aspire 3003LC - Mobile Sempron 3000+ 1.8 GHz - 15" TFT Other than the word "Acer" I bet the newbie buyer hasn't got a clue what the rest of the above means. In fact trudging round Currys, Comet and PC World looking for a laptop, the descriptions may as well have been in ancient Greek. The fact is that, other than the price, there is almost no understandable information available from manufacturers and retailers. Shop assistants, if and when ...
...recommendation. At home the Acer started first time and Windows Vista was welcoming and straight forward to set up. In fact we expected to have to load discs but this has now been done away with. In fact the whole experience was painless. I guess there are two points here. 1. Like a car, if you don't know much about mechanics, your choice becomes one based on looks and mention of "0 to 60 in 10" must mean it's good. So with the Acer. "Sempron3000" ... Read review

A Budget Giant
Review of Acer TravelMate 2414LMi - Celeron M 380 1.6 GHz - 15" TFT by ultras67

Advantages: Makes you think you have more for your money, easy to use
Disadvantages: Keyboard feeling.

...on from my last two Acer laptops, when my mother wanted a budget laptop to buy, Acer was one of the names that immediately sprang to mind. Fortunately that week Comet had a large advert in the newspapers that meant she could buy this model for only £299. One quick car journey later and the credit card was handed over and a shiny new cardboard box containing the Travelmate 2414WLMi was given back in exchange. BORING BIT ALERT!!! Skip over this ...

Great hardware, until it goes wrong
Review of Acer Aspire 1705SMi - P4 3.06 GHz - 17" TFT by salsacolin

Advantages: Full size comonents, Large Screen, Large HDD
Disadvantages: Acer after sales service

...replacement than a laptop. Acer has now discontinued this model of laptop so you will only be able to purchase this second hand, now this is where the big problem occurs. My laptop started to have issues with overheating when Hyper threading was enabled and then the DVD-RW stopped working when burning CD's. The laptop was purchased from new and was about 9 months old. I logged a call with Acer support and to start with was pleasantly surprised ...
...5 day turn around on the repair. 5 days came and went, so did a week, 2 weeks, 3weeks. I chased and got no feedback. I escalated and chased, escalated and chased. After 4 weeks the laptop was returned, it still over heated, the DVD-RW would not even read a disc, the USB ports did not work and there was a crack in the case. Eventually after a total of almost 3 months I received a replacement laptop, as they no longer made this model I received a different ... Read review
