When I purchased mine, I was fully aware of the problems that surround this model of computer - minor rebooting errors. But unless you are a computer wizard (and if you are, the Presario range isn't for you), these aren't going to annoy you too much - if it doesn't shut down first time, says that it can't read the hard drive, CD-Rom, etc - ignore and keep rebooting - the problems it thinks it is is hardly the case at all. ...a really good value for money laptop. Built in modem, CD-Rom, and a good amount of hard drive and memory space. The built in software is a bit too simple for me, so I shopped around for other internet providers and installed Office 2000 instead of pre-installed Microsoft Works. It's at least a year old model, which would make it cheaper, and you think less worthy of new models, but it's not too heavy - I'm always carrying it around with me from home ... Read review

...machine, as you expect from SONY worked very well indeed, the operating system was windows ME, which has its flaws, but all in all runs quite smoothly. I didn't encounter too many lock ups with the system, and only when i started to overload the hard drive did it go wrong. ...lots of imaging software from sony pre-installed, all of it designed for use with sony digital cameras. You will need to provide your own office software though, as none comes installed. The touch pad works well and doesnt flick the arrow arround the screen as some can. The keyboard is nice and firm to the touch, not springy, this was one of the reasons i chose this machine. Earlier in the year i started to consider finding a little laptop so it was easier to do some of my uni coursework without battling the masses for a computer. Disadvantages: Can freeze and lock out the user. Low spec memory.

This notebook seemed to be excellently priced at £899 in Dixons but when it was further reduced to £799 then it was a bargain not to be missed. The internal V90 modem is great, I have had no problems with it and the built in pointing device is fine. The screen has presented no problems and gives a clear if not to large display.
