Review of Apple PowerBook G4 - PPC G4 1.5 GHz - 17" TFT by johntyyk3

Advantages: Graphic designers, Weight, Shape, Style
Disadvantages: Size, USB Ports,

...moving to mac every week. Apple OS X operating system is amazing, No viruses, No spyware and no pop ups. How can you beat that!? Personal favourite computer and will never go back to a windows based computer. The apple laptop can handle multitasking very well with the 1.5ghz processor, i use photoshop and Final Cut pro in sync and it managed to hold on to it with no problems. With 512mb of ram, i wouls suggest upgrading this to atleast 1gb it is ...
...buy the RAM modules of Apple directly rather than websites like Cruical memory. If you are going to use an external hard drive, it have to be noted that there is only 2 USB ports one on each side. USB powered hard drives do not work with only 1 usb connected, both have to be connected which presents a problem to some users. *Me Espically.* One neat feature is the Firewire port on the right hand side it is handy for Video cameras. Apple Powerbook G4 1.3ghz
Review of Apple PowerBook G4 - PPC G4 1.33 GHz - 17" TFT by tricetp

Advantages: Fantastic looking, powerfull, good price and high quality
Disadvantages: Only 64mb graphics - low ram

I recently purchased the new powerbook and have been very impressed with it. You cannot help to be impressed with it even from opening the box it comes in. The first impressions are of a sleak, thin and beautifully designed piece of kit. The good impressions have stayed with me since powering the laptop up, the software Mac os 10.3 is very easy to use yet very powerfull and and included bundle of ilife 2004 inludes most tools needed to enjoy the ...
...good as any PC laptop inluding bluetooth, and fast wifi as well as a full compliment of ports inluding firewire 800mps. Battery life is very impressive and watching DVDs on the 15 inch widescreen is a treat. The included 256mb ram is somewhat low though and really needs upgrading to get the full use of the high spec. ... Read review

The sexiest laptop in the land
Review of Apple PowerBook G4 - PPC G4 1.67 GHz - 17" TFT by djspellbound

Advantages: Sexy, Soundcard, graphics, screen are all good! Harmony
Disadvantages: Cannot play many games

Great laptop, has lasted me just over 2 years now and is still serving me well! I use the powerbook for producing music on Logic Pro 7.2, I however found that after I had learned the basics and am now straying a little further into the realms of soft-synthesis, my memory was limiting me so I up-graded to 2gig of ram from the 512meg which comes factory built in the machine, this was done easily (just a few screws and that was it!). The new ram only ...
...too! If you are planning on doing this you must make sure you use the correct type of ram for the unit, some are DDR2 and the older ones are not. This means the older ones cos substantially more (over £100) I used crucial.com, they allowed me to pinpoint exactly what machine i was using and sold me the correct one. The sound quality from the in-built card is fantastic, the notebook is light, modern looking and very easy to use, it also copes with ... Read review

HP DV6599 Special Edition - Good All Rounder
Review of HP Pavilion Media Center dv6599ea Special Edition Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by marcus997

Advantages: Features, size and design
Disadvantages: Not good enough for gaming

...me. As a fan of HP products, I chose from the DV6500 range available at the time. This laptop had every spec I required for both using as a station for university assignments, as well as home use for music, film and gaming. Firstly, the design is eye-catching. I was bored of looking at the generic black or grey and thought the white anti-scratch surface was ideal. The laptop is also quite light and the absense of a locking clip meant there was less ...
...more than my money's worth! HP also frequently offer discounts so it's always worth checking to see what deals are to be had. As well as the remote control that is stored away when not in use, another of my favourite features is the fingerprint reader. When you use the internet on a frequent basis, remembering usernames and passwords can be frustrating. For anyone who hops from website to website, I'd highly recommend this feature. Thankfully I ... Does an excellent job for most day to day tasks
Review of Toshiba Equium A200-26D - Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by s32bauer

Advantages: Good looks, most basic equipment you would need, able to handle most programs
Disadvantages: Not suitable for games, some aspects feel cheap

...However, I will warn that Toshiba have placed quite a lot of branding on the software. The Toshiba wallpaper is easy to get rid of, but there are numerous 'memory eating' programs that Toshiba claim to help your laptop - they do nothing worthwhile. Certainly nothing that Windows can't do better. Separate programs for controlling the touch pad aren't required, and uninstalling all of this non-essential software frees up storage space and memory. ...
...ethernet port for my internet, and have had no issues with either. The ethernet is very straight forward plug and play, and connects to your ISP in seconds. The display is extremely crisp and sharp, and the brightness can be changed to suite your needs (and energy consumption). On the subject of energy consumption, this laptop isn't too bad compared to some I have used. I can run my laptop in high performance mode using wireless LAN for internet, ... Read review
