Dell XPS M1530 laptop
Review of Dell XPS M1530 by ilaskey

Advantages: Great feature set, fast, GFX card, HDMI out
Disadvantages: keyboard/touchpad could be better

...motherboard failure on my existing Dell Inspiron laptop and given its age, repair looked a bad move as one could buy a new laptop for less. However, once I decided to see what was available and given my two main criteria - a higher than usual resolution screen and three year warranty, I suddenly found the price spiraling upwards. After much searching I settled on an XPS M1530. The price on the Dell web site was around £1000 but a phone call to Dell ...
...blue lid and nice chromed Dell logo and the body looks smart but not overly flashy with its brushed aluminium and black plastic plus blue lights. The grill over the speaker does seem to attract bits of dust and dirt and needs a quick brush now and then to avoid it looking like you've just eaten your lunch on it (which to be fair is pretty much what is causing the bits) but apart from that the M1530 looks the part. The XPS M1530 comes with a fingerprint ... Read review

Dell Vostro 1000
Review of Dell Vostro 1000 by hackzilla

Advantages: Cheap and well spec'd
Disadvantages: No disadvantages when priced at £352

...user. The specifications of Dell laptops always seem to be getting better. I made the decision to buy. The snag I found was this Dell Vostro 1000 was a range that is only available to business customers. This wasn't really a major problem, as I could just buy it as a business. Purchasing as a business has a drawback, but it also has a pro point. The drawback to buying as a business is that the distance selling regulations only apply to consumers, ...
...you change your mind. The pro point is that the laptops tend to have less rubbish installed on them, than their equivalent consumer models. The specifcation of the Laptop I purchased was: AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual Core Processor TK-53 (1.7GHz,512KB) 2GB RAM Integrated ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 HyperMemoryTM 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280x800) display 120GB Hard Drive DVD+/-RW with Dual Layer DVD+R write capacity 4 USB Ports Wireless (G) Windows ... Value for Money laptop
Review of Dell Inspiron 1720 by tabigarasu

Advantages: The perfect budget laptop
Disadvantages: Looks like a dell.

...I was skeptical of a Dell laptop, but after seeing the Inspiron 1720 I was impressed by its features, especially comparative to the price. If you are looking for a highly functional laptop on a budget, this is certainly the avenue to be looking down. So, here's my computer-studdent-wisdom breakdown: Screen: The screen is better than expected for a laptop in terms of brightness (which can be adjusted easily) and size. It's nice! Keyboard: Despite ...
...main drawback is it's sound quality isn't fantastic, but certainly not substandard. Integrated microphone: Again not fantastic, but not substandard. Value for money: Definitely value for money, especially if you can get it on a special offer-which Dell seem to do rather a few of for this series! ... Read review

Dell Inspiron 1525
Review of Dell Inspiron 1525 by Jammie1000000

Advantages: Looks good, fairly fast processing speed
Disadvantages: webcam could have done with a bit of work

I like this laptop although I have managed to find a few flaws after only using it for a short period of time. Looks I like the look of it and i have the pink version which just adds to the great looks. It looks very modern and has a good use of colours. A very sleek looking piece of kit. The blue LEDS also contribute to the looks and the touchpad for the media controls are brilliant. The laptop is also pretty bulky, especially with newer ...
...including the Macbook air. Functionality The functions of this laptop are OK. There are a few minor flaws with this laptop. The loading time from startup is pretty fast. The fact that it has 4 USB's is also very useful unlike most of the other laptops within the price range. There is also a wireless network switch to easily switch the wireless on or off at the flick of a switch which is also pretty useful. The processing speed on this laptop ... Read review

A great, fully featured notebook for home
Review of Dell Inspiron 1520 by droony

Advantages: Huge performance, cool design, big graphics, GOOD screen
Disadvantages: lid catch could be better, doesn't feel prperly closed.

This is a very feature packed notebook for the money, I have owned mine for approx 4 weeks now and I am still amazed at it performance, it's just so quick. The model I bought come with the Core Duo 2 7250, 2GB ram, 8600M GT graphics (256MB dedicated) and 250GB hard drive. Love the different coloured lids you can choose from, I went for the green, which actually suits it as it is not too bright and has a slight rubbery feel to it. If I had to pick ... Read review
