Dell XPS M1530 laptop
Review of Dell XPS M1530 by ilaskey

Advantages: Great feature set, fast, GFX card, HDMI out
Disadvantages: keyboard/touchpad could be better

...motherboard failure on my existing Dell Inspiron laptop and given its age, repair looked a bad move as one could buy a new laptop for less. However, once I decided to see what was available and given my two main criteria - a higher than usual resolution screen and three year warranty, I suddenly found the price spiraling upwards. After much searching I settled on an XPS M1530. The price on the Dell web site was around £1000 but a phone call to Dell ...
...blue lid and nice chromed Dell logo and the body looks smart but not overly flashy with its brushed aluminium and black plastic plus blue lights. The grill over the speaker does seem to attract bits of dust and dirt and needs a quick brush now and then to avoid it looking like you've just eaten your lunch on it (which to be fair is pretty much what is causing the bits) but apart from that the M1530 looks the part. The XPS M1530 comes with a fingerprint ... Read review

Value for Money laptop
Review of Dell Inspiron 1720 by tabigarasu

Advantages: The perfect budget laptop
Disadvantages: Looks like a dell.

...I was skeptical of a Dell laptop, but after seeing the Inspiron 1720 I was impressed by its features, especially comparative to the price. If you are looking for a highly functional laptop on a budget, this is certainly the avenue to be looking down. So, here's my computer-studdent-wisdom breakdown: Screen: The screen is better than expected for a laptop in terms of brightness (which can be adjusted easily) and size. It's nice! Keyboard: Despite ...
...main drawback is it's sound quality isn't fantastic, but certainly not substandard. Integrated microphone: Again not fantastic, but not substandard. Value for money: Definitely value for money, especially if you can get it on a special offer-which Dell seem to do rather a few of for this series! ... Read review

Dell Vostro 1000
Review of Dell Vostro 1000 by mufc4300

Advantages: Cheap in Price compared to other laptops
Disadvantages: Slightly bulky and heavy in weight

...their prices with the other Dell laptops out on market. I purchased the laptop at £339 with the same spec on the inspiron coming to a total of £529. The machine overall is excellent for the type of work I use it for, as it is very fast and quite simple to use with minimal functions. The downfall is that it is slightly bulky compared to all the other machines and can take up quite a bit of room as it is pretty thick aswell. I have had a few problems ... Read review

Inspiring inspiron
Review of Dell Inspiron 1525 by sparkle_gremlin

Advantages: options for build
Disadvantages: battery lead location

I recently purchased this laptop and so far so good. I previously had a inspiron 6400 and can say that the improvements are really good. The touchpad is great and as other have mentioned the LEDS really do add to the appearance in of the laptop. I went for the standard black matt cover as i wanted more from the performance side than the pretty-ness factor. That being said this laptop seems to succeed in both. I decided to add the integrated webcam ...
...is much more than i expected and the program it comes with is easy to use. It is definately thinner than my last laptop but not as thin as some new ones coming out, although I think some can feel too flimsy, this is a perfect size and weight. The battery plugs into the side unlike previous models which can be a bit awkward at times. ... Read review

Another Great Product from Dell
Review of Dell Latitude D531 by carlamp

Advantages: Good price, well built
Disadvantages: Wifi is listed as optional

...purchased my D531 direct from Dell a little over two months ago. I purchased it as a replacement / upgrade for my older Dell C640 which had served me well. This is now my 3rd Dell laptop, my reason for sticking with them is quite simple. Dell may not always be the most trendy of designs, but in my experience they are in general very well built and tend to cope well with the odd few knocks and scrapes. Firstly when you buy from Dell, it is very ...
...stated earlier, in my opinion, Dell are hardly what you would term fashionable in terms of their looks. However as with its predecessors, the D531 has a good solid and well built feel to it. My only slight concern is that whilst it is quite sturdy, the lid does not seem to offer the same level of protection as others, and Dell seem to have used a lighter more flimsy plastic. PERFORMANCE The spec I went for was the basic offered by Dell for this ... Read review
