I bought the Dell Vostro 1000 for starting a Degree last september. The Vostro 1000 is marketed at businesses and as such is installed with Windows Vista Business. The laptop came with 2GB of RAM which is ample to run vista comfortably. The fact that the laptop is marketed for businesses has made no difference to me. I recently purchased this laptop and so far so good. I previously had a inspiron 6400 and can say that the improvements are really good. The touchpad is great and as other have mentioned the LEDS really do add to the appearance in of the laptop. This is a very feature packed notebook for the money, I have owned mine for approx 4 weeks now and I am still amazed at it performance, it's just so quick. The model I bought come with the Core Duo 2 7250, 2GB ram, 8600M GT graphics (256MB dedicated) and 250GB hard drive.
