THE GOOD THE BRILLIANT AND THE UGLY???
Review of Toshiba Tecra A6-171 - Core 2 Duo T7200 2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by cindyhigham

Advantages: Very good spec for the money
Disadvantages: Love or hate design, Screen could be better.

...standard with DVD+/-RW. Basically my Toshiba can both read and write / burn DVD's rather than just being able to play them back. Display: The display is comparable to most other manufacturers. Fitted as standard is A 14.1" TFT panel. Maximum resolution is 1200 x 800. From personal experience I have found the display to be more than adequate. Appearance is nice and bright with good colour reproduction, although it does suffer a little in bright ...
...The battery life quoted by Toshiba is the usual "Cloud Cuckoo Land" figure of 4.2 hours. Having said that I have with average usage (internet browsing, e-mail, and photo editing via Adobe) managed to achieve around 3.5 hours usage before needing to be re-charged. I have compared this with a few of my work colleagues with various makes of laptops who have reported 2.5 - 3 hours usage tops!, so comparatively I would say this to be pretty good. Technical ... One book worth a read.
Review of Apple iBook G4 - PPC G4 1 GHz - 14.1" TFT by Ideate

Advantages: Functionality, Speed, Look
Disadvantages: Minimal

Having not owned an Apple product before, i took a leap of faith into the unknown when i decided to buy this version, now i've had it for over 2years and i am still impressed. Even now it doesn't seem outdated with its slim 14" screen, sleek apple touch keyboard, and white gloss finish. It comes as standard with a 'slot' style loading drive which saves time and potential breakages. The laptop comes with quite a few trick features including colour ...
...hard drive - incase you drop it! The only niggles on this model are the USB port being on the left side which can make apple mice a reach for right handed people and its clunky 'plastic' style click on the track buttons. For the money prepare to be impressed! ... Read review
