Review of Sony VAIO AR51M - Core 2 Duo T7250 2 GHz - 17" TFT by carlamp

Advantages: Great all round quality product
Disadvantages: Battery life low, DVD Write speed could be better

...business and home use. My Sony Vaio has not let me down with either of these. Design ********* In general the design of the laptop, (although much the same as any other) is very good. The extra ports are well laid out and easy to access. The laptop is not as lightweight as others on the market, but is still light enough to be carried around with comfort. The keyboard is well designed and easy to use likewise is the touch-pad. In terms of build ...
...with the amazingly clear screen. Sony have for some time been a brand leader with their range of black screens. The 17" TFT fitted to this laptop is no exception. The image quality and clarity is nothing less than superb. Before buying the laptop, I was a bit sceptical with regards to the "High-Res'" claims made by Sony. Having now had what can only be described as "The Pleasure" of owning it, I can confirm that "High Resolution" is exactly what ... Read review

Sony go Home
Review of Sony VAIO AR61S - Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1 GHz - 17" TFT by piiindy

Advantages: Blu-ray, large screen, high spec
Disadvantages: processor a bit behind the rest of its high spec gizmos

The Sony Vaio a business laptop, not this one. Even thought sony would make a laptop for your home use, shur the business ones were great and good to use at home, but this one goes the other way round its great at home and good for business, though not as portable with a 17" screen so for a business i wouldn't recommend, but still good. It seems Vaio have started to make good laptops for the home as well as leading the way in business laptops. This ...
...pretty fast and 2 GB of ram which is excelent for your mulitimedia uses. 400GB or storage! superb for storing movies and songs, and a gig or video memory again superb for movies meaning more frames per second are played and of better quality. At £1000 you may feel it's out of budget, but it has a blu-ray player, which will cost in excess of £300 it will play your blu-ray DVD's on its 17" screen HD compatible ofcorse, and the sound on the laptop ... Sony VAIO AR51E Review
Review of Sony VAIO AR51E - Core 2 Duo T7250 2 GHz - 17" TFT by ElistheG

Advantages: 17" Screen, Awesome Specs and a built in webcam
Disadvantages: Too much bundled software and it's also quite heavy.

...Software- 9/10 As usual Sony has bundled a lot of software with the AR51E including Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere Elements and VAIO Camera Capture Utility, so you can capture videos and images using your built in webcam. The downside of this is that a lot of the software won't be used and in all it takes up about 12GB of your harddrive. The OS of this laptop is Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium. Portability- 7/10 As far as ...
...the VAIO is weighed down by it's 17" screen. Value- 8.5/10 At around £900 new these laptops aren't cheap, but for such a high spec laptop and the fact that it's made by a top brand like Sony, I think it's worth the money. Overall- 9.5/10 The Vaio AR51E may not be cheap, but it's a truly awesome laptop, with a 200GB HDD, 2GBRAM and Dual Core Processor, as well as the 17" screen the VAIO makes for optimum computing, while its not the type ... Not good
Review of Sony VAIO BX297XP - Pentium M 760 2 GHz - 17" TFT by gs.2003

Advantages: Fast laptop for the specification
Disadvantages: Forever crashing

...it has been back to Sony in France for repairs 4 times. The first problem was the DVD drive decided it didn't want to work. So the laptop had to be sent back to Sony to have the drive replaced, even though they could have sent the drive in the post and we could have done it. We managed to get around the problem by installing a stand-alone version of Windows XP (Corporate edition, which means it is a fresh CD of windows but can be installed on many ...
...the laptop, so I hope Sony have sorted this problem as similar models are having the same problem. Anyway overall this laptop is fast for the processor. It has an ATi graphics processor (or the part that controls the graphics quality), this is a very impressive processor and you can run games and also do fantastic photo editing. I would recommend this laptop, only on the basis that it is a fast and high quality laptop, but the main problem that ... Read review

The Dell Vostro 1000
Review of Dell Vostro 1000 by Chuckles1987

Advantages: price, durability, look, speed, memory
Disadvantages: N/A

I bought the Dell Vostro 1000 for starting a Degree last september. The Vostro 1000 is marketed at businesses and as such is installed with Windows Vista Business. The laptop came with 2GB of RAM which is ample to run vista comfortably. The fact that the laptop is marketed for businesses has made no difference to me. In fact it has probably helped me with my degreee as it doesn't come with all the extra unnecessary rubbish that others do (e.g. solitaire, ...
...2007 package, etc. The Dell Vostro 1000 is amazing quality for money and I would thoroughly recommend it, expecially for anyone on a limited budget. The battery once charged does not last for ages but it is not too bad at all; as with most laptops there is a selction of performance modes which can prolong battery. It Vostro is very resilliant; and has survived a few knocks without any trauma. I am very happy that I have the Vostro 1000, it is a ... Read review
