It's a workers laptop
Review of ThinkPad R51 1829 - Pentium M 715 1.5 GHz - 15" TFT by
goosey2
Advantages: Tough - Hard Disk Protector - Rapid Restore
Disadvantages: A bit on the heavy side - not the cheapest
I've had an R51 for about a year now and it still looks the same as the day I got it. I have had several Acer's an HP and experience with SONY's and they have all fallen down on build quality. Not so the R51.
As with most IBM products it is not the aesthetically pleasing, it looks like a big black slab of plastic. There are no curvy lines or shiny chrome finishes but it is Ronseal. It does exactly what it says on the tin. The case is solid, the ... ...and screen and the hard disk turns itself off if you drop it (before it hits the floor) by way of a built in motion sensor that you can bring up on screen and it will mirror the current angle of the laptop in a nice on screen display.
The built in touch pad has lots of functionality including all the usual customizable tap zones, drag and drop , double click etc.. but personally I always disable them, (on any laptop) as I tend to find that I catch ...

Solid Build, Superb Performance
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 866 MHz - 13.3" TFT by
r0sco1
Advantages: Solid Build Quality, IBM Warranty
Disadvantages: Price, Lack of additional software
...volume buttons and an extra Thinkpad button which when you click gives you the option to update the drivers on the PC providing you are connected to the Internet. The only drawbackin the layout is the lack of a windows key (which is usually located next to the ALT & CTRL keys).
IBM Preload the operating system wich means you wont get a Windows CD with the system, instead there is a hidden partition (option) to reload the system back to its original ... ...differenceisnt very noticeable when compared to other systems of similar spec, there is no point pretending this system can perform the same way a system of 1.2Ghz spec can do because it cant. The system can runs applications, email, games well without any problems providing all the games meet the spec of the PC, however one good thing about the system is IBM use Configsafe which is a program which asks to take a snapshot of you system before you ...

My view of this laptop
Review of ThinkPad R31 2656 - C 1.06 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
yanbingyan2005
Advantages: The typing of IBM laptop is so good. The quality of IBM crust is also good.
Disadvantages: But when I use this laptop, there is something wrong with the sound.
I bought my thinkpad r31 3 years ago. Now I really want to sell it. When I use this laptop, there is something wrong with the sound. when I turn the volumn to lowest. After 5 or 10 mins, it will suddenly turn to the highest volumn. Sometimes, it really scared me. but the speed of this laptop is not bad at its stage. The typing of IBM laptop is so good. The quality of IBM crust is also good. the touch feeling of this laptop is also not bad, it can ... ...is feel like strong. I haven't drop it down, so i can not tell what it really do. but i can tell the feeling. the harddisc is really not enough to me. because i like download movies and music, there is no enough space for me to save them, then i decided buy a removed harddisc. so if you are like me, do buy a harddisc for it. ...

Who needs a mouse!!!
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
surveyg1rl
Advantages: Trackpoint is SOOO much better than mouse/touchscreen
Disadvantages: Trackpoint does sometimes drift
I bought mine secondhand from a nice friendly little computer shop, reconditioned. It came with a floppy drive, a cd rom drive and writer, a dvd drive and spare battery. It also came with a free carry case and a port thingy that you can just drop the laptop into; this port thingy holds connections to printer, modem, power etc. Now while this is great, meaning every time you want to move the laptop around, you don't have to mess around with loads ... ...and can lead to the computer having a problem communicating with the printer etc. However, the main thing I love about this little black number is the trackpoint feature. This is a tiny nub which sits just below the g and h keys. Its a little tricky to get used to for a short time, but let me tell you, once you get used to it, you're spoiled for any other control device. Sometimes it does drift but the tutorial is absolutely right when it says the ...
