Cheep and cheerful
Review of HP 510 - Celeron M 360 1.4 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
Dazzlin_uk
Advantages: Cheep laptop, resonable quality
Disadvantages: Spend a little more, get a faster laptop
I have been using this laptop for a couple of months and I think, for the money, this is an exceptional piece of equipment. My couple of gripes are long charging time, the right mouse button feels loose, it now takes a very long time to boot up (it was fine new and I have not added much software) and a very limiting hard drive. Also, this unit comes with 512mb ram but can only be upgraded to a max 1gb and uses special ram chips that need to be ordered ...

The Dell Vostro 1000
Review of Dell Vostro 1000 by
Chuckles1987
Advantages: price, durability, look, speed, memory
Disadvantages: N/A
I bought the Dell Vostro 1000 for starting a Degree last september. The Vostro 1000 is marketed at businesses and as such is installed with Windows Vista Business. The laptop came with 2GB of RAM which is ample to run vista comfortably.
The fact that the laptop is marketed for businesses has made no difference to me. In fact it has probably helped me with my degreee as it doesn't come with all the extra unnecessary rubbish that others do (e.g. solitaire, ... ...2007 package, etc.
The Dell Vostro 1000 is amazing quality for money and I would thoroughly recommend it, expecially for anyone on a limited budget. The battery once charged does not last for ages but it is not too bad at all; as with most laptops there is a selction of performance modes which can prolong battery. It Vostro is very resilliant; and has survived a few knocks without any trauma.
I am very happy that I have the Vostro 1000, it is a ...

Value for Money Toshiba
Review of Toshiba Satellite A100-200 - Core Duo T2050 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
sunweohn
Advantages: durability, reasonable price
Disadvantages: heat if used long hours and noisy fun inside
This notebook is my first notebook I bought it a year ago soon after it was launched in UK. I paid £499 for it. I don't think I should describe the product description in the review so I will only mention my experiences and opinions. In my opnion, the Satellite series is the reasonable priced notebook introduced by Toshiba. I use it daily and its durability is quite good. The keyboard keys are easy to handle and use. The notebooks come together with ... ...classic looks.
When it is used for long hours (like 5 hours or more), it becomes hotter especially near the mouse pad area and the noise of the fun gets louder to reduce the heat inside.
To summarise the pros and cons, it is value for money. Good Luck in your research of notebooks info. ...

A True Mobile Workstation Notebook
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad T61p 6457 - Core 2 Duo T7800 2.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
vurso
Advantages: Subtle Design, Performance, Display Quality & Graphics Power
Disadvantages: Design may not suit everyone's taste
Amazing laptop. I have always been a fan of no nonsense laptops that perform rather than looking pretty this delivers.
The keyboard still is one of he best laptop keyboards I have used and I have been through a fair few brands of laptops. With this purchase I had some goals which included the ability to meet my power computing demands (.NET development, Database Development, Run Virtual Machines, Adobe Photoshop and some 3D/CAD work) - thankfully ... ...Vista 64bit to get the best out of laptop).
The graphics card is the icing on the cake for me, by all accounts it is the same as the 8700M GT card however it has been clocked faster and with 256MB memory really delivers some graphical punch. I can play my favourite game such as World of Warcraft at maximum resolution and settings and still able to play the more demanding Supreme Commander.
The resolution is something you either love or hate, set ...

A competitive performer in the business market
Review of Dell Latitude D630 by
Mac2008
Advantages: Portable performance
Disadvantages: May be difficult in deciding on what spec to have
...this laptop for business purposes, Dell don't even offer this to the home user market. So, its agreed, you are likely to be looking at this for work purposes, so the next question is, what do you need to do on it?
When purchasing any asset for the professional environment it is all about cost effectiveness. This is often misconstrude as buy cheap... on the contrary, its about buying the most appropriate device for the job(s) required. For example; ... ...The D630, as with any Dell product, is totally customisable so you can build a high end number crunching unit or have a mobile workstation to provide access to the communication tools that are important to you.
The important thng to consider is that this laptop is built for usability, reliability and stability. It features Hyperconnect technologies (Dell proprietary network enablers) and strikezone hard disk protection (just in case you drop your ...
