My sleek and sexi laptop
Review of Toshiba Satellite P300 by rockchick080

Advantages: Music sounds amazing
Disadvantages: Key buttons if they fall off are very hard to put back on yourself

I purchased this laptop last week for a £400-£500 price range (medium). First thing i noticed was the look (So sleek, so sexi, it's so shiney!) It looks class. The best way to dive into a new career of course with style and confidence. The keyboard is at a new level of comfort and ease it makes those long essays or reports fly by. It works side by side with any broadband wireless or home conennected. The second most impressive thing for me was the ...
...the machine for it. It plays a new remarkable volume assisted by two very loud bass playing pressure and is most certainly all u need for ur late nights in. Very stong and rebust feel free to take it anywhere u go (if u can even set it down) it is very easily transported with not much weight and no strain. Also build in webcam for handyness is by far one of the smoothest qulaity pictures i have seen .This was definatly my best by of the year. Get ... Read review

Great machine at bargin prices
Review of Toshiba Tecra 8100 - PIII 600 MHz - 14.1" TFT by Dragon17

Advantages: Light, sleek and stylish. Great performance and great value for money.
Disadvantages: Largest screen size is 14.1 Inches.

...etc but so far the Toshiba Tecra has been th most reliable. The other brands I have mentioned seem to all have problems with the power management systems. Most use speedstep technology which means when the laptop is not plugged in the processor will clock down to save power. This is a pain on most of the other machines but not the Toshiba. Also the biggest problems with laptops is the cooling as you can't fit a big heatsink and fan like on desktops ...
...on the 1Ghz models. If the processor gets too hot the system will hang or worse, the laptop casing will start to melt. I had the Tecra over a month and being a systems engineer and a Quake3 fan I really hammered the processor and it didn't hang once. Also it was cheaper than most of the other brands which is great value for money considering the performance. The 14.1" TFT screen is a joy to stare at and is very clear but I would have prefered a 15" ... Good machine but can easily be beaten
Review of Sony VAIO FJ3S - Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz - 14.1" TFT by 03bintls

Advantages: Nice size, good looks, adequate spec
Disadvantages: Screen, technology has moved on

...handy since I have a Sony digital camera, so transferring photos between the two is so simple and easy. Other connectors include 3 USB ports, a firewire port, AV out, microphone in, headphone socket, ethernet and modem and monitor out. This laptop doesn't have a line out/in port for audio though, which is something I would like to change since it prevents you recording external audio sources onto the hard drive. I have been getting around 3 hours ...
...the screen and switching off the wireless card helps to keep the time up but its not really a problem. The internal stuff - its got 1GB of ram, which I think is fine. While there are laptops with more these days I believe most users will find this adequate. Its also got a 100GB hard drive. I have filled this many time over now, so have had to invest in an external hard drive. But I guess this is to be expected with a laptop. Its also got a dvd/cd ... Read review

Dell Inspiron 600m - Masterpiece
Review of Dell Inspiron 600m by ZxPwn

Advantages: possibility of 2 batteries, long battery life, overall good life
Disadvantages: none!

The Dell Inspiron 600m is an amazing laptop, even for just the beginner laptop-user. I've used alot of laptops in my time and this laptop actually stays with me, as it is a good laptop, and can take a beating at any time, if you're worried about it. This laptop is significant but, the hinge on the monitor can, IF PULLED, be easily broken. But, it is an amazing laptop. A amazing laptop is what everybody needs, this is a lot better than most laptops ... Read review

fujitsu esprimo
Review of Fujitsu Siemens ESPRIMO Mobile V5535 - Celeron M 530 1.73 GHz - 15.4" TFT by lynz_2008

Advantages: good sized screen. small and compact.
Disadvantages: small memory, slow

i brought this product as a cheap laptop to do my work on for college. i found that it worked quite slow considoring the specs given. i also found that the battery dies quite quickly without the adaptor so unless you are anywhere with a power supply you might as well not bother taking it with you. however i was impressed with the look and the feel of it. and for what i want to use it for it seems to be satisfactory. i would however not recommend ...
