A lean machine
Review of Toshiba Portege R500-100 - Core 2 Duo U7600 1.2 GHz - 12.1" TFT by st.v1

Advantages: Weight, battery, screen
Disadvantages: FIngerprint software

...power), and the keyboard. Toshiba has packaged the machine well, with a handy set of utilities, such as HDD protection (although this can be annoying when you're on a bumpy train - even if it is doing its job), the ConfigFree software (with its quick connect to different networks, wireless and Bluetooth connectivity), and power saving options. Switching between monitors and Digital TVs (if they are fitted with a PC connection) shows that the graphics ...
...although the Realtek audio mixer is basic. The touchpad drove me to distraction until I found how to turn it off while I typed - it's software is too clever by half and leads to the cursor jumping around the screen as you type. The big thing you need to be aware of is, paradoxically, using the fingerprint reader software for anything than basic passwords. DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO USE IT TO PROTECT FILES. If there's a glitch that stops the TrueSuite software ... Read review

Thin, portable yet still fairly powerful laptop
Review of Toshiba Tecra A2 - Pentium M 735 1.7 GHz - 15" TFT by crazyforyou12

Advantages: Very good spec and good performance with LONG battery life
Disadvantages: Only a 15" screen, very bad audio speakers

...and OneNote, and all the Toshiba products for notebooks, such as Wireless Diagnoser etc. The CD writer is very good, it's 24X, which is fairly fast for a notebook, and it's CW-RW. I upgraded this to DVD-W, as it only came as a DVD-Rom when I bought it, and it's 4X. I haven't had any problems with the drive since I bought this. However, this does come with XP Pro, which is bloody good, working really well with Pentium M. There are a lot of extra Toshiba ...
...exactly how you want it. I upgraded the harddrive space to 60Gb from 40Gb, and I would recommend this if you play games, edit photos, and like to generally need a lot of space. The built in laptop speakers are EXTREMELY tinny, so if you listen to a lot of music I would recommend buying some USB speakers. I wish this had a few more USB ports, but you can always buy a external plug-in external USB ports. You can also buy a bluetooth dongle to solve ... Read review

Living with a Toshiba Libretto U100
Review of Toshiba Libretto U100 - Pentium M 753 1.2 GHz - 7.2" TFT - with docking station by tasfalen

Advantages: Storage Speed Battery Convenience
Disadvantages: Keyboard Biometrics

The Toshiba Libretto U100 is a sub-notebook, similar to Fujitsu's Lifebook or the trendy OQO. It packs a full-featured PC into a very small package. In this case: a Pentium M 1.2Ghz with 512MB RAM, 60GB HD and a 7.2" widescreen running Windows XP Home. I purchased my Libretto about a month ago in preparation for traveling to a conference. A local big box store had them on clearance, including the optional dock. The dock adds a DVD multi-recorder. ...
...- this machine replaced my Toshiba M205 convertible tablet - and the Libretto is no exception. I would not have purchased it at full price, but at a couple hundred dollars off it was a good deal. It is very well built, and I appreciated the portability and battery life while I was traveling Combined with 2 USB ports, built-in wireless, Firewire, Bluetooth and video-out (through a dongle) the Libretto can handle almost any task you throw at it. You ... Read review

HP Laptop - Good Notebook for small businesses
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook 6715s - Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.9 GHz - 15.4" TFT by dickmaister

Advantages: quick, value for money
Disadvantages: not the best looking, no special add ons (no built in webcam etc.)

I was given this laptop a few days ago...with Windows vista. I have had experience with vista so it was not that hard to get used to. However this was vista business so it did not come with the windows games which you are used to. With a dual core 1.9Ghz processor, this machine is quick...ideal for all your business needs. For personal use it is also great for games such as Football Manager 2008 and so good it can cope with games such as the Sims. ...
...as Inkball is such a great game. It can play DVDs with built in Intervid dvd watching Kingdom of Heaven on it just today. I recommend this for small businesses and for those who do not mind losing out to minesweeper solitaire hearts and the likes. Great Battery time...not the best looking but good value for money ... ...After I had used the HP Tablet TC4400 model at work I knew it had to be a tablet PC. For those of you that are not aware of the term 'tablet PC'. It refers to a laptop where you can turn the screen and place it flat on the keyboard with the screen face-up. This turns it into a type of notebook that you can use to write on by using the specially supplied stylus pen. Users of a PDA will be familiar with a stylus. You can use it in this mode to surf ...
