HP NC6220 Business Laptop
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc6220 - Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz - 14.1" TFT by la_chique

Advantages: Slimline, many different options and room for expansion
Disadvantages: not too many, mainly the price issue

...This secondary battery has HP fast charge technology, which means you can charge the battery up to 90% in just 90 minutes (which in case you're not too sure is very fast) and the battery boasts an additional 4 hours of battery life on top of the time provided by a normal battery, designed to keep the user mobile for days. Display ------------------------------------------------------ The screen is 14.1 inches, TFT XGA. It can output a resolution ...
...------------------------------------------------------ There is a HP Premier sound card in the system. It is 16 bit and it comes with internal spoeakers and microphone. There is also an external volume button, and mute button, and there are the usual input/output sound ports. The microphone works well by the way, because I like to set up the voice recognition software on all systems, because my colleagues have long essay type documents to write ... Read review

A great little runner!
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4010 - Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz - 12.1" TFT by nicolemorgan

Advantages: Available cheaply second hand. Runs well.
Disadvantages: Can overheat - I would advise buying an extra fan.

Well I am typing this review on my NC4010 so it definitely has the basics features you need when it comes to internet surfing and basic office tasks. Firstly, I should probably point out that it isn't the newest, star-spangled model available. I bought mine second hand from a well known auction site for about £120. I desperately needed something cheap and reliable for accessing the internet and doing basic tasks with office. The laptop arrived with ...
...enough to get Office, there is a free programme called Openoffice available to download off the internet which does just as good a job. The laptop is small - diddy in fact! I have to admit to being very picky when it came to choosing my laptop and a big factor in my decision was the sleek design and curved edges on this model which I feel makes it aesthetically pleasing. As for the size, it has a 12.1 inch screen and the laptop is only about 14 ... Read review

Good allround machine - Dated design
Review of Compaq Evo Notebook N610c - P4-M 1.8 GHz - 14.1" TFT by paulpemby

Advantages: Wide range of specificatons, Eaily Upgradable, Good battery life
Disadvantages: Produces a LOT of heat, dated design

The compaq Evo N610c is now an aging machine but still manages to handle the everyday tasks of a home-user or light business user. Compaq have developed a solid base system in this laptop which has multiple configuration options so that it can adapt to the needs of most users. Intel\'s P4 Mobile processors are utilised throughout this series and produces a longer battery life by only running at the speed needed to run the active programs. Options ...
...RAM upto 1Gb (PC2700) and docking station. On top of the configurable base system there are many external sockets to enable further peripherals and upgrades to be added. (2x USB Sockets, 2x PCMCIA Slots, VGA Out, Parallel Socket, Com Port, TV out socket, Ps/2 Socket, Headphones and Mic Socket). The optional docking station enables even further expansion by adding further sockets still. The screens used on the N610 range are top quality units and ... Read review

Compaq Evo N620c
Review of Compaq Evo Notebook N620c - Pentium M 1.3 GHz - 14.1" TFT by newkyjas

Advantages: lightweight, reliable
Disadvantages: Mouse control

I have used this laptop for many years now as my work laptop, I have had absolutely to problems with reliability, or ease of use. The only downside I find is that the mouse control is dreadful, but as I connect a proper mouse to it thankfully I havent had to use it too much. So from a reliability point of view, its been switched on at least 40 hours every week of the year and it just keeps chugging along. Screen quality is clear for the age of ...
...but quite capable for day to day activities of word, excel, info explorer etc. Standard Processor is the Intel Pentium 1.4ghz, with 256Ram installed, although my work laptop has had the memory doubled, apparently to help XP process. Standard battery should last 6 hours on a full charge. 40GB IDE hard drive is included, with a weight of only 4.9 lbs is not the heaviest on the market. The measurements are (W x D x H)-- 12.1 in x 9.8 in x 1.2 in Other ... Read review

HP4200 laptop, good choice for travellers
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4200 - Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz - 12.1" TFT by VolvoWoes

Advantages: Light weight, fantastic battery life
Disadvantages: Screen not the best, peripherals are external

...is not straightforward. The HP docking station is excellent and provides extra, powered USB ports. The machine seems well built and I have had no problems with it other than a tendancy for the wireless adapter to "freeze" when working on battery power. The touchpad mouse is a pain and should be disabled... ... Read review
