Brilliant in every aspect!
Review of ThinkPad 570 PII 333 MHz - 13.3" TFT by djivesp

Advantages: Size, weight, looks, build quality, keyboard
Disadvantages: Built-in speaker

I got this laptop as second hand, with upgraded ram and hard drive (128M, 10Gb), after researching into the laptop market, i was after an ultra-portable laptop that would not break the bank, and this, for 130 off ebay was the best thing i could ever have gotten. To start off with my expectations, i expected to be able to get something really bulky and heavy, which would probably run windows 98 and i might have been tempted to make use of ...
...exceeded all my expectations and left me with a happy pocket! The Pentium II 333 would not really cut it as a multimedia performer, or so i thought, but again, i was surprised just how capable this portable is! Basically, being a student and wanting to carry the thing with me everyday, this is ideal, weighing in at 1.8 kilos without the base, i can word process, write emails, i have it on a broadband internet connection which lets me stream radio ... ...of the cpu. The battery life is surprsingly good, (given the battery was not new) and i get between 2 and 3 hrs on it depending on settings and what programs i am running. the machine is so light you hardly notice it in your bag, the screen is great and offers a nice 1024x768 which is perfect for the sie of the screen (12.1 inches) and the hdd at 20gb is very generous for the age of the laptop. only a couple of gripes., There is no driver for ... The T42: Time to use your Thinkpad!
Review of ThinkPad T42 2373 - Pentium M 735 1.7 GHz - 14.1" TFT by lea20

Advantages: High spec for low refurb price, Windows XP Pro, great build
Disadvantages: Small hard drive, only 2 USB ports

...these rather than falling for the cheap supermarket high spec laptop thing. High spec yes. High build no. Where are all the parts when you need them? IBM is a well supported brand and the T42 Thinkpad is a popular model. I can see why. ... Read review

IBM T23 2647 Thinkpad.
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by Ronnie-Taylor

Advantages: Enterchangeable CD drive, to Extra HDD, Handy IR Port.. Useful for data transfer.
Disadvantages: Both System Board & Disk Drive Failures.

A very capable laptop, which gets used every day. With lots of handy features. Such as the removable CD, Floppy Drive. Great if you purchase the Cradle for an extra HDD. Which makes Backups simple! The extra large LCD display, makes your Home PC almost extinct. Also the battery is easily removable. It has a double USB port on the back along with the Com Ports and Mouse Port. Which I don’t really use because of the touch control in the centre on the ...
...hand for mobile phone data transfer. The laptop arrived in a smart carrying case. With lots of extra cables for Token Ring Connection and other bits & bobs, including the instruction manual. On the negative, the hard disk died after about 14 Months use, then a week after the system board failed. But on the whole, I would purchase again ... Read review

So your looking for a reliable laptop then
Review of ThinkPad 600 X - PIII 500 MHz - 13.3" TFT by GR-Design

Advantages: Sturdy, made by IBM
Disadvantages: Doesnt look all that good next to the likes of Sony

...year, I bought an IBM ThinkPad 600 Laptop computer. It is second hand, but only just over a year old. It cost £500 incl VAT and this is what I got for my money? PII 300 Processor 64 MB Ram 5 Gig HDD 24x CD-Rom 13.3? screen 56K modem I needed a laptop for work, so was looking for something that isn't afraid of getting carted around. Now, I know that's the general idea of laptops, but these days they seem to be built to look good and not to be durable ...
...are located on the IBM ThinkPad laptops. The buttons are rather big and bulky and quite unsightly. However, again, the buttons feel as if they will last me until the laptop dies as they give a very responsive bounce, instead of a creaky click which again, I have found on other keyboards. I have yet to find out what the 3rd button does that's indicated with a purple stripe, so if anyone knows, please leave a comment! - MULTIMEDIA The laptop has two ... Read review
