Average & Expensive
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook S7110 Value - Core Duo T2500 2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
philglen
Advantages: Good Performance
Disadvantages: Not easy to use as a programmer
Having bought this product second hand I feel I can objectively give my opinion on how well this product performs, as I was not biased at the point of sale by its looks, or features. As a web developer I use computers almost constantly so ease of use is of utmost importance, and unfortunately for me I do not find this a user friendly piece of equipment.
Let me start with the positives. It is a nice size and although quite heavy it is of good build ... ...can be viewed from an angle which is ideal for presenting to a client. Performance wise it is pretty quick and can handle several heavy weight applications open at once, i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator & Dreamweaver.
However I expected a higher resolution than 1024 x 768 for such a high priced business machine. (Any other web developers out there will know that it simply is not big enough). Also because it is quite small in size the keyboard layout ...

Good notebook terrible customer service
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook P7230 - Core Solo U1400 1.2 GHz - 10.6" TFT by
Bearxlover
Advantages: Good Notebook but needs 2G memory
Disadvantages: Terribel customer service see review
Before you buy the Fujitsu likebook 7230 please read my experience. I bought the 7230 lifebook from Fujitsu direct a few weeks ago and had it configured for 1G of memory. I based this on their own user guide which says the machine has 1G of onboard memory under the keyboard which is not user accessible, and another slot on the back which is user accessible for another 1G. so i had planned to upgrage later when i found out how fast or slow it runs. ... ...without changing their user manual.
Fujitsu have been giving me the run around right from the start
on this...first denying that the user guide wass wrong...then admitting
that there was a mistake but still not willing to make it right.
To add insult to injury they then charged my credit card for the full amount when i tried to buy a 2G chip, even though the module was back ordered for at least 4/5 weeks. When i protested they said this was standard ...

From my life with Toshiba Satellite Pro L 100
Review of Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 - Core Duo T2300E 1.66 GHz - 15" TFT by
justuke
Advantages: Great look, Comfortable, Easy to use, Not overcrowded
Disadvantages: Looks older than it is, Some new techs are missing, low quality screen
I love my Toshiba for simplicity and light design. There aren't any unuseful things here.
However, as from Toshiba I expected more hi-tech and more original ideas in design. No Microsoft Office in it - cruel! All hardware is less reliable, than it is imagined. Lots of bugs, although not very influential ones.
I like keypad a lot - very comfortbale, easy to adopt and soft. Typing with silence, less mistakes.
Could be faster, but it spreading kind ...

Mac - my life long dropable friend
Review of Apple MacBook Core Duo 1.83 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
jimboy81
Advantages: Exceptionally professional, doesn't slow down, no viruses
Disadvantages: White gets dirty, expensive to upgrade or add to
...There is of course the apple store option if you can find one.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the pure design of it (after the excellent packaging and manual which was clear and concise). The brilliant white casing, the smoothed edges and the rounded corners made me feel that I was now in possession of a very professional machine. For only £699 (approx.) I felt that I had really been cheeky. The setup process is exceptionally ... ...trying to do. The apple website provides more information on precisely what the battery life is.
Problems I have encountered are mainly cosmetic. The colour means that it does dirty quite easily and the front has become scratched so I had to buy a case for it. But its design is exceptionally strong as I have dropped it and it didn't even make a dent, (yes I am clumsy!). Hardware wise it comes with 512 MB of Ram which is enough if you're not going ...
