Value for Money Toshiba
Review of Toshiba Satellite A200 by sunweohn

Advantages: durability, reasonable price
Disadvantages: heat if used long hours and noisy fun inside

This notebook is my first notebook I bought it a year ago soon after it was launched in UK. I paid £499 for it. I don't think I should describe the product description in the review so I will only mention my experiences and opinions. In my opnion, the Satellite series is the reasonable priced notebook introduced by Toshiba. I use it daily and its durability is quite good. The keyboard keys are easy to handle and use. The notebooks come together with ...
...classic looks. When it is used for long hours (like 5 hours or more), it becomes hotter especially near the mouse pad area and the noise of the fun gets louder to reduce the heat inside. To summarise the pros and cons, it is value for money. Good Luck in your research of notebooks info. ... Read review

Review of Dell Latitude D600 - Pentium M 1.3 GHz - 14.1" TFT by silverspooninmouth

Advantages: simple reliable value
Disadvantages: can't think of any

brilliant. i have owned five Dell laptops and they have all been excellent. i had one that had a problem, howeveri had the onsite warranty. they were out next day and fixed it in my house. parts and all. they were consistent in their reliablilty and seem that way acroos the range. the smaller models were better than the larger types. i.e Centrino cooler than the P4 versions. this is similar in all Lappys though. i enjoyed the simplicity of setting ...
...have prompted me to recommend them to many of my friends and in my opinion value for money and specification together, thereis not much better available. all in all thy have been a worthwhile purchase and i would continue to recommend them to others. i will purchase again when i have the need to. ... Great machine at bargin prices
Review of Toshiba Tecra 8100 - PIII 600 MHz - 14.1" TFT by Dragon17

Advantages: Light, sleek and stylish. Great performance and great value for money.
Disadvantages: Largest screen size is 14.1 Inches.

...etc but so far the Toshiba Tecra has been th most reliable. The other brands I have mentioned seem to all have problems with the power management systems. Most use speedstep technology which means when the laptop is not plugged in the processor will clock down to save power. This is a pain on most of the other machines but not the Toshiba. Also the biggest problems with laptops is the cooling as you can't fit a big heatsink and fan like on desktops ...
...on the 1Ghz models. If the processor gets too hot the system will hang or worse, the laptop casing will start to melt. I had the Tecra over a month and being a systems engineer and a Quake3 fan I really hammered the processor and it didn't hang once. Also it was cheaper than most of the other brands which is great value for money considering the performance. The 14.1" TFT screen is a joy to stare at and is very clear but I would have prefered a 15" ... Brilliant in every aspect!
Review of ThinkPad 570 PII 333 MHz - 13.3" TFT by djivesp

Advantages: Size, weight, looks, build quality, keyboard
Disadvantages: Built-in speaker

I got this laptop as second hand, with upgraded ram and hard drive (128M, 10Gb), after researching into the laptop market, i was after an ultra-portable laptop that would not break the bank, and this, for 130 off ebay was the best thing i could ever have gotten. To start off with my expectations, i expected to be able to get something really bulky and heavy, which would probably run windows 98 and i might have been tempted to make use of ...
...exceeded all my expectations and left me with a happy pocket! The Pentium II 333 would not really cut it as a multimedia performer, or so i thought, but again, i was surprised just how capable this portable is! Basically, being a student and wanting to carry the thing with me everyday, this is ideal, weighing in at 1.8 kilos without the base, i can word process, write emails, i have it on a broadband internet connection which lets me stream radio ...
