Review of Dell Latitude D600 - Pentium M 1.3 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
silverspooninmouth
Advantages: simple reliable value
Disadvantages: can't think of any
brilliant. i have owned five Dell laptops and they have all been excellent. i had one that had a problem, howeveri had the onsite warranty. they were out next day and fixed it in my house. parts and all. they were consistent in their reliablilty and seem that way acroos the range. the smaller models were better than the larger types. i.e Centrino cooler than the P4 versions. this is similar in all Lappys though. i enjoyed the simplicity of setting ... ...have prompted me to recommend them to many of my friends and in my opinion value for money and specification together, thereis not much better available. all in all thy have been a worthwhile purchase and i would continue to recommend them to others. i will purchase again when i have the need to. ...

Review of Compaq Evo Notebook N600c - PIII-M 1.2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
marckranat
Advantages: solid & reliable
Disadvantages: bit heavy - square
...i broke a cdr drive, compaq repalced under warrenty, no questions asked. much quieter than other models, battery still going strong. the built in wireless that comes in the lid is stuck on 11mb, so was prob a mistake to include, a pcmcia card would have been better. tons of other options available, all "in stock".
I guess we will just be repalcacing with an updated model. we hope HP have not spoiled it with thier badge :)
screen is avarage, bios ...

Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook S5582 Excellent Buy
Review of Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook S5582 - PIII-M 800 MHz - 13.3" TFT - with port replicator by
krash_control
Advantages: Light-weight, Robust, Fast by P3 standards, slim look, soft touch keyboard
Disadvantages: External Floppy Drive, Poor Speakers, PS2 port on Docking Bay only
Firtsly, let me say that before you turn away from this beauty, you have to look at it close up and not in a picture. When I saw it, I had to have it there and then, it is THAT beautiful.
It has a sleek silver finish that is lovely to touch, easy to clean and looks virtually scratch resistant.
The keyboard is lovely and is soft-touch, i.e. it takes light tapping of the keys to type. The only disadvantage is that you have to press the 'Fn' or second ... ...keys, which are integrated with the arrow keys. But I quickly got used to this. The keyboard has a windows key in the right place which most modern laptops lack. This is essential for a person who knows the keyboard shortcuts in windows.
As for the operating system, I have Windows 2000 running and it's a dream. Boot up takes about 15 seconds and shutdown is just 2 seconds which is great because as I work on the train so I can wait until I am just ...

Ibm Laptop advantages and dis
Review of ThinkPad T41 2373 - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
dvdmonk
Advantages: well built Structrualy and performance is decenct.
Disadvantages: could do with a bit more ram to 512 and shifted up to 1.5 hertz
The Ibm laptop i will say is a good laptop with well laid out display with easy access to all ports and also the quick functions on the keyboardallowing youto change setting right away instead of going through all of windows, plus the little bonus of the ibm thinlight nice little touch.
Disadvantages i feel for this laptop is that you get little memory like 256 come on ibm the genral user need 512 of ram and give us a pocksey 256 but easy to upgrade ...

Good Value for Money
Review of HP Pavilion tx2500ea Entertainment - Turion X2 Ultra ZM-80 2.1 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
Maxcfernando
Advantages: Nice touch screen, good keyboard, good for students who need to draw diagrams
Disadvantages: Screen glare is bad, can't seemuch in sunlight, vista slows it down
I want to point out first that this is not a gaming laptop. If you keep that in mind when you buy or try this out then you will enjoy using this laptop.
The laptop only has a 12.1" screen, however this is big enough to be able to see everything on it clearly and I think that the screen is very good, especially for a tablet pc which usually have rubbish screens. I also like buttons that are set all around the screen and the usability of the laptop. ... ...touch pad is good and sensitive and can be locked so when you are writing on the screen it doesn't interfere. The keyboard is a decent size and feels solid. The laptop does however have its flaws, the screen gets dirty too quickly, it is difficult to see in high natural light and sunlight, and vista makes the laptop very slow for a dual core, 2GB pc. Overall however this laptop is easily the best value for money tablet pc that you are going to be ...
