The T42: Time to use your Thinkpad!
Review of ThinkPad T42 2373 - Pentium M 735 1.7 GHz - 14.1" TFT by lea20

Advantages: High spec for low refurb price, Windows XP Pro, great build
Disadvantages: Small hard drive, only 2 USB ports

...these rather than falling for the cheap supermarket high spec laptop thing. High spec yes. High build no. Where are all the parts when you need them? IBM is a well supported brand and the T42 Thinkpad is a popular model. I can see why. ... Read review

Lenovo Z61m
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad Z61m by Leadenwinter

Advantages: Good for media work, WideScreen quality Graphics.
Disadvantages: Lenovo suck... totally.... This computer can only be used in air-conditioning.

...which are still operational. The Lenovo site's recall service is based on the serial number of the batteries. Although we all had the same computer (and presumably batteries) only some of us managed to avail the recall even though the battery problem was more or less identical. There are similar problems with the chargers which are prone to failure or breakage. I personally know of at least four users including myself who have had to buy new chargers ...
...almost suspect that Lenovo have deliberately inspected limited consumer durability into their products.. mainly batteries and chargers in order to compel purchases. Both the charger and battery if bought together cost the better part of £200 which is quite expensive considering you can a reasonable new laptop for £300. ... Read review

IBM ThinkPad X41
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad X41 2525 - Pentium M 778 1.6 GHz - 12.1" TFT - with X4 UltraBase by tartupets

Advantages: Extreme performace and user experience
Disadvantages: 128 mb graphics memory low performance

IBM Thinkpad x41 with the Ultrabase is the best and most powerful laptop of its kind. 1.3 kg and with the 8 cell battery up to 6 hours operating time, it is mostly suited for travelers and collage students Instead of the standard 512 mb of RAM, ive got the 1.5 GB installed, so it is faster and has better performance. It has the touchpoint interface, which is the second best after the mouse because it is more precise than the touchPad. The ThinkLight ...
...or train because it suits itself to repeated bumps and allows the HDD run even with heavy vibration. As suited to IBMs, there is a little light in the edge of the monitor, which is very good in the dark. Especially I like the location of the processor cooling vent, which is on the side and keeps the processor cool even through extended periods of heavy processing. Also, the keyboard is among of the best to use. I can guarantee, that the precision ... Read review

review of ThinkPad T43 2668
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad T43 2668 - Pentium M 750 1.86 GHz - 15" TFT by neil1424

Advantages: quite light, reasonably fast, comes with good software package
Disadvantages: ugly, poor keyboard features

To start with the bad news, this laptop, like most thinkpads, is ugly! sorry! The laptop keyboard setup is awkward to use and the touch mouse pad seems slightly unresponsive to me. The screen is of reasonable quality although can sometimes look grainy to me, although that may be my contact lenses!! Power consumption is good and I can get about 3-3.5 hours on the train doing reasonably CPU intensive work. The laptop is reasonably fast for a laptop ...
...itself, although the CD writer isn't the best and doesn't always complete writing a CD for me, although that could be my CDs. The software package that came with my laptop, XP Pro, was good with all MS Office applications. The harddrive is large for a laptop too. Overall an ok laptop but not one I would buy again ... Lenovo ThinkPad R60e
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad R60e 0657 - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 15" TFT by nollybabe

Advantages: easy to use, long battery life
Disadvantages: no mouse touchpad, slow due to security software

...is possibly a little low- Lenovo automatically install software that regularly reminds you to back up your hard drive and defragment, etc- which is good, as it means you are more likely to do so, which is good for your machine, however bad as it obviously slows down the machine further. At startup, therefore, the machine is rather slow, however speeds up once everything has registered and the computer has sorted itself out. Another useful thing with ...
...on so that you can see your keyboard in the dark, if that is something you would need. As with all laptops, this one has it's own allocation of function keys on the keyboard, however, again, these are quite easy to use and you get used to them after a while. In general, I find this laptop easy to use and with a good battery life, which I find the biggest advantage of it overall. ... Read review
