Toshiba Portege 3500 - Best of breed, but heavy
Review of Toshiba Portege 3500 - PIII-M 1.33 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
maxmidnight
Advantages: Robust, powerful, functionally superior to the competition. All you could ask for from a tablet pc.
Disadvantages: Can get hot, but nothing to worry about, battery life shorter than with other models (3.5hrs), heavier than the competition making it awkward for the true mobile user.
...Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the Toshiba Portégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the Toshiba Portege 3500 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
Of all the tablet PC's currently on the market the Toshiba Portégé 3500 has the best performance of all the systems because it uses the Intel Pentium III-M 1.33 GHz processor and a fast hard drive. Perhaps as a consequence of the faster processor, the Toshiba is also ... ...the other Tablet PCs, the Toshiba is a "hybrid" configuration that does not separate the display and processor from the keyboard as the slate and convertible configurations do. The hinge rotates between notebook and tablet modes. The operating system detects the change in orientation and automatically adjusts the screen, rotating from portrait to landscape mode or vice versa.
The Toshiba model is a bit heavier and not quite as comfortable to use ...

Lightweight Tablet Notebook
Review of Toshiba Portege M200 - Pentium M 755 2 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
schwana
Advantages: Long battery life, eaasy to use in tablet mode, quick
Disadvantages: Needs a spare pen, keyboard layout.
General
I have been using this tablet for two years now, both at home and work, and I'm so impressed with it that it has become my main computer, replacing both my work and home desktop. By connecting an external USB keyboard and mouse, the tablet can be propped up in the portrait configuration, which is great for writing documents, and is cheaper than buying the docking station! This also takes advantage of the USB ports being on the rear of the ... ...The tablet is very light, and has a battery life of over 4 hours. This makes it ideal for walking around making notes in my work environment, as well as taking to meetings where its always a talking point. I've had no problems with the handwriting recognition, though a spare tablet pen would be nice! The keyboard feels oddly set out - it is robust enough, but after using a "normal" keyboard, I find it tricky to type on the tablet. The screen is very ...

Top of the range Toshiba
Review of Toshiba Portege M400-3G143 - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
xxsupergirlxo
Advantages: Great value for what it is, very portable, durable, useful, good screen, fun to use
Disadvantages: Easily breakable keys, no touch screen, only stylus/lightpen useable not fingers.
...meaning it is portable. The Toshiba Portege is an excellent laptop. My Experience
When I first got this on order from amazon.co.uk, I looked at the box and thought 'jees its huge!' After stripping down the 100's of layers of wrapping and cardboard on the laptop, I finally got to it. It is very petite in real life, yet a good weight at 2.1 kg - not too heavy but not too light, about the weight of a little over 2 bags of sugar. It's 29.5 cm wide, ... ...stick in your backpack if you need it for a school or work project. Using it is a pleasurable experience! It is excellent to use with either the touch pad or stylus. The stylus is very touch responsive, and this can be utilised for graphics artists and amateur artists alike. The screen is great, very bright and you can even see it outside in bright light. Like a high definition tv screen almost, it is such a high quality.
One thing I found depressing ...

The dream tablet pc has ever come true
Review of Toshiba Portege 3500 - PIII-M 1.33 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
transcore
Advantages: Thin and light notebook, powerfull enough to do some processing
Disadvantages: Some areas of the touch screen might not be accessible at a certain time
I know that some people need a little convincing with something as radical as the concept of tablet computing. But for me, Portege 3500 is fast enough to do some processing without hassles. Thin-and-light notebook is a dream machine that capable stylus processing that quite neat. It has a decent processor-a 1.33-GHz PIII-M-and a 12.1-inch screen. There's a great keyboard, a capacious 40GBhard drive, and 1,024MB of RAM. It comes with an external CDROM ... ...With batterypack that ready to supporting 2:40 hours, connecting internet in local hotspot still quite nice.
Only I have experience problem with the stylus, I lose it someday and need to buy the replacement, but the price is still comfortable. If you are using this stylus more frequently you will face that some areas in the screen is not accessible. With Entertainment Pack and Education Pack that coming free for Windows XP will satisfy your work ...
