Medion Laptop
Advantages: Really fast and easy to use Disadvantages: Not as light as I'd like
Before we got this laptop we had a desktop PC with Windows 98, so I don't know whether it's that which influences my opinion or just the plain fact that this laptop is great! It comes with Windows XP home edition and its really easy to use. Its set up for wirelss internet too which is great. It has 4 different USB ports so you can have different things plugged in like modem, scanner etc. The only thing I don't like about this laptop is that it has ... ...it just annoys me a bit, cos i'm weird like that! But it has CDRW so you can make your own CDs for your own pleasure. Great stuff! There is one other thing, which is that I think this is quite heavy for a laptop. I don't know whether thats just me with my high expectations, but hey. Good thing about this is that we bought it from Woolworths in the Sale for £399! Bargain! ...

Medion MD 96290 Laptop
Advantages: Reliable, good value for money Disadvantages: not great for gaming
The Medion MD 96290 is in my opinion a very good laptop for the price of it - roughly £500 - £600. It has many impressive features including Windows Vista Premium, Intel Pentium dual-core processor T2130, 120 GB hard disk , 30 GB recovery disk etc. However it has a relatively small screen compared to other laptops at 15.4 inches. It has a long battery life (lasts 3 hours when left uncharged) and I have not experienced any technical problems with ... ...If you are looking for a laptop that isn't too expensive but still delivers good quality performance then this is the laptop for you. However, I suggest you use it more for work purposes as games don't run aswell on this laptop compared to other laptops due to the quality of the graphics card, therefore had to buy another laptop for my gaming reasons. The laptop also has very good sound quality and has media player and media centre already installed ...

Medion MD 96480
Advantages: Looks stylish Disadvantages: looks can be deceptive, not designed for sitting on ha ha
My medion lasted the 1 year warranty period. I may or may have not got ripped off with the price,. I bought it from woolworths for £349, in the sales last year. It comes with a 15.4 inch lcd screen which is a good size for watching dvds, it also comes with a dvd re-writer, though I think most laptops do nowadays. Its ram is around 892 mb, which is not quite 1gb as the company would have you belive. In the year I have had it, there have been some ... ...60 minutes left, it will then say low battery after ten minuites. I found it easier to use as a staionery computer so that it can have a regular power source. I have also found that the usb cables don't stay in very well, any slight movement and they fall out. Sound quality isn't brilliant. Mine came preloaded with windows vista basic. I think that if I buy a new one I may try the vista prenium, as basic is literlally basic and doesn't do very much ...

Medion 96100 series. It's a German thing!
Advantages: Super screen, good performance, nice looks. Disadvantages: Awful speakers, good do with more RAM.
...The bad things: Could do with more RAM and Medion could concentrate on better support for drivers etc. They're German and I had a real time searching for the latest drivers.
Overall: Pretty good, I'd recommend if you're not a serious user unless you want to upgrade the RAM. ...

Dell - Inspiron Mini 10 review
Advantages: Dell - Inspiron Mini 10 review Disadvantages: Dell - Inspiron Mini 10 review
...of Intel's Atom processor. Instead Dell has opted for the Atom Z520 version in our review sample, which is clocked at 1.33MHz (there is a version powered by the 1.60GHz Z530).
The Z520 has a TDP (Thermal Design Power) of just 2 Watts compared to the 2.5W of the N270, which would perhaps give the Mini 10 an edge over its rivals, but unfortunately Dell has given it a 3-cell battery instead of a 6-cell unit as standard. A 6-cell is available for an ... ...9.0 but without Microsoft Word. Dell insists that netbooks are only being used for email and web browsing but many of its competitors actually understand what people are doing with their netbooks in the real world, with many of the second generation netbooks recently released including full or trial versions of Microsoft Office or Star Office. After two netbook releases you'd think Dell might have a better inkling of how these products are used.
