NEC Versa S940 Laptop
Review of NEC Versa S940 - Pentium M 725 1.6 GHz - 13" TFT by
phirex
Advantages: Small, Light, Compact
Disadvantages: Poor video performance
This laptop is advertised as a subnotebook - it's slightly too large IMO to be a sub-notebook, however it's still relatively small, lightweight and compact.
It carries a nice processor, being a centirino 1.8 and has all the expect extra's - DVD-RW & Wi-Fi. The battery life isnt too long on this laptop, however by turning a few of the features off which used the battery power I was able to conserve it for around 2.5 hours. I woul recommend this notebook ...

Oh dear.....
Review of NEC Versa M320 - P4-M 2.2 GHz - 15" TFT by
pruneofdoom
Advantages: Er
Disadvantages: Lots
Where should I start?? With the pants keyboard? With the uncontrollable mouse pad? It really is rubbish. The main problem is how slow it is. It takes a few decades to boot up and when it does it struggles to run more than one program at any one time. It has very few features. The keyboard is very cheap feeling and is very hard to type with. The keys are also in completely the wrong the place and i frequently pressed the wrong ones....not funny! The ...

Well Versed
Review of NEC Versa M500 - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 15" TFT by
mo79
Advantages: Perfectly adequate features, compact, beautiful design, brand name, cheap, perfect for newbies and undemanding users.
Disadvantages: Tinny speakers, fairly short battery life, paltry software bundle could've done with more RAM but that's what you get for the price range.
...that my mum purchased a NEC Versa M500e (the e I presume differentiates it from the slightly higher model?) primarily for herself, but everyone else is having a go too. With ability to share broadband it seems a nice time to get one.
This Versa notebook doesn't have the braun of higher end notebooks, but for a budget machine it still packs quite a punch. First timers and those with undemanding needs (net, office applications, some games and multimedia) ... ...in computing but you've heard of them!
It's been a long time since beige machines were out of fashion, and the M500e isn't one machine that dares to go back. It's a gorgeous silver case with black keys and pad sensor, all sleekly designed.
Windows XP Home is the obligatory OS that runs the 1.3GHz Celeron M processor. The desktop Celeron range took quite a lot af flak in performance, and even though the M version cannot compete with the mobile computing ...

Tough and powerful
Review of NEC Versa 6260 by
JOSI78
Advantages: power and durability
Disadvantages: heavy and slightly bulky
The NEC Versa 6260 laptop is very powerful, even today. It comes with a number of pre loaded software packages and includes Anti virus facilities. I have found it is easy to use and hasnt given me any problems. The positive side is the excellent customer service and the durabilty of this product, however the only complaint is that it is rather heavy and bulky to carry around whilst on the move. I also found that it gets a litle too hot when used ...

Don't throw out,but dont rush to buy one-[UPDATED]
Review of NEC Versa C160 - Athlon XP-M 2200+ - 15.1" TFT by
indystar
Advantages: Cheap to upgrade, good features and upgraded its not too slow
Disadvantages: Not a laptop to go out and buy new.
The first thing to point out is the low price.Although you may be disappointed with the lack of a Pentium Processor sticker, the Athlon XP-M gives a nice speed of 1.6Ghz in the c160.This matches similar Pentium-Ms, and to get the most from the Athlon simply expand the RAM from the basic 256Mb adding another 512Mb.This is said to be the most the processor can use effectively. And if done properly the laptop is not too far behind the 1Gb RAM laptops ... ...player which is a nice feature. And a half decent battery life. The screen is clear with a high resolution. It is easy to use and the keyboard is a pleasure to type on.The slidepad for the mouse, is controllable and fairly precise. There are 3 USB ports at the back of the laptop.Space for a wireless card (wlan card) to be fitted to enable wireless connection.
The laptop is cheap to upgrade. But if you're looking to buy a new laptop then I'd advise ...
