...someone has to !). The Panasonic toughbook was meant to be the answer with its ruggedised casing and splashproof keyboard. Well, in my experience the slightest hint of moisture in the air and the whole thing packs up. The screen goes dark and the computer will keep shutting itself off. I will admit that when it works the laptop is nice to use, with pentium4, a smooth mouse pad and nifty black handle that pulls out from the front end of the laptop. ...
...this day and age there are laptops with a 10 hour battery life but this one rarely gives you enough juice to last more than 40 minutes. The rugged housing is deceptive....some of it looks like it's aluminium but it is in fact plastic. I would not trust the thing to drop it on the ground as I reckon it would smash to pieces. The Dell Inspiron 600m is an amazing laptop, even for just the beginner laptop-user. I've used alot of laptops in my time and this laptop actually stays with me, as it is a good laptop, and can take a beating at any time, if you're worried about it.
