Sleek, Silver, And Sexy
Review of Sharp PC-A280 by
Endo
Advantages: Lightweight, Very High Quality Screen, Versitile
Disadvantages: Battery Life, Keyboard Build and layout
...as an IRDA port supporting SHARP ASK IR, and a 56K internal modem, laplink proffesional is also bundled with the systems software to make this task easier, although i have this laptops drive connected as a network drive.
The laptop comes with an external flopy drive, which also includes the external ports for printer, and keyboard, the bad thing is the CD-ROM drive is an optional extra some i'm using a PCMICA drive of an old sony vaio.
Overall ... ...looks are amazing, definately something to parade around the office, the one thing you should keep in mind when purchasing one is you need to buy a cd-rom drive which can add an additional £250 to the price tag, the battery also leaves something to be desired, but if portablity is key there are few machines i have used that rival it. ...

Sharp for squirt
Review of Sharp Actius MM10 by
petitesquirt
Advantages: Small and light
Disadvantages: Battery life could be longer
...I am using this.
Sharp sells an extended battery pack for 200 dollars in the US. This is supposed to run for 9 hours but it is slight bulkier. I might have to consider buying that eventually.
4. Disk space
I have a large 15 Gb (Gigabytes) of disk space on board my little computer. This has been pre-split (thanks to Sharp) into 2 virtual drives; C with 10 GB and D with 5 GB. At this moment, I have used 7 GB on my C drive and nothing on the D drive. ... ...choice I would have liked Sharp to preload this with both linux and windows, linux for my writing and surfing the net while windows for games and photos.
16. Misc
I don't know if this was part of the deal I got, but it came with an antivirus, 2000 minutes of free wireless service with Tmobile and 200 minutes of free internet with AOL. Not that I've used any of these but I have so far subscribed to a full year of virus detection service with Norton ...

HP Laptop - Good Notebook for small businesses
Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook 6715s - Turion 64 X2 TL-58 1.9 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
dickmaister
Advantages: quick, value for money
Disadvantages: not the best looking, no special add ons (no built in webcam etc.)
I was given this laptop a few days ago...with Windows vista. I have had experience with vista so it was not that hard to get used to. However this was vista business so it did not come with the windows games which you are used to. With a dual core 1.9Ghz processor, this machine is quick...ideal for all your business needs. For personal use it is also great for games such as Football Manager 2008 and so good it can cope with games such as the Sims. ... ...as Inkball is such a great game. It can play DVDs with built in Intervid dvd watching Kingdom of Heaven on it just today. I recommend this for small businesses and for those who do not mind losing out to minesweeper solitaire hearts and the likes. Great Battery time...not the best looking but good value for money ...

For those of you that are not aware of the term 'tablet PC'. It refers to a laptop where you can turn the screen and place it flat on the keyboard with the screen face-up. This turns it into a type of notebook that you can use to write on by using the specially supplied stylus pen. Users of a PDA will be familiar with a stylus. You can use it in this mode to surf ...

A Serious waste of energy.
Review of Gateway M6824 by
demonbarak
Advantages: Well specced
Disadvantages: wrong OS for machine, poor layout
Ok, So, I needed a cheap laptop to do while my computer was being reworked. And what a mistake this one turned out to be!
Its slow, unreliable, difficult to type on.... but let me explain.
I paid over three hundred pounds for this machine. And in all honesty, thirty would have been overpaying.
Features wise its not too bad - wireless, decent quality screen, good keyboard action.
Unfortunately, this is more than offset by the little niggles. Vista ... ...cope absolutely fine with XP, but Vista hogs so much of its meagre gig of memory that nothing runs fullspeed. Its not compatable with so many of the programs and games I know and love... the list of niggles with vista is endless.
The layout - Oh dear god, but whoever designed this machine clearly did not use their brain! You physically cannot type without knocking the mousepad, which flips you out of the program you're typing into and causes havoc. ...
