Review of HP Compaq Business Notebook 6720s by Dawn1177

Advantages: Ability to recover to initial factory settings, durable and easy to use
Disadvantages: It comes with windows vista

I bought a HP Compaq Buisness Notebook 6720 (GR647EA) from a HP partner two months ago. He gave me the Laptop without the recovery discs. I found it strange because the laptops I had used came with discs. I requested for them and he informed me that it has inbuilt back up and recovery. For two reasons - wrong configuration of keyboard and download of an update incompatible with microsoft office - I had to perform full system recovery twice. Each ...
...not miss a thing. This thrilled me because the last laptop (a different brand) I used, the full factory image/settings was not recovered when I had to format it. It came with a trial version of microsoft office 2007 (I did not need to buy MS office for a while), a sixty subscription of Norton Virus and windows vista which can be a nuisance. But I understand that one can request for a downgrade to windows XP professional. ... Read review

Review of Acer Aspire 5920 by cronaldo08

Advantages: Great features, great performance
Disadvantages: USB slot positioned to close to the CD drive, sensitive hot keys

Personally owning an Acer 5920 is something special. First of all the customer support and acer technology did not leave me disapointed. Definitely a laptop you would not be embarassed to pull out at work or on the train. It looks modern. The opening mechanisms resembles that of a car and is very easy to use. Feature wise the acer does not disappoint with a camera , webcam , movie maker and much more. This makes it the perfect choice for your everyday ... Read review

Dell Vostro 1000
Review of Dell Vostro 1000 by hackzilla

Advantages: Cheap and well spec'd
Disadvantages: No disadvantages when priced at £352

...user. The specifications of Dell laptops always seem to be getting better. I made the decision to buy. The snag I found was this Dell Vostro 1000 was a range that is only available to business customers. This wasn't really a major problem, as I could just buy it as a business. Purchasing as a business has a drawback, but it also has a pro point. The drawback to buying as a business is that the distance selling regulations only apply to consumers, ...
...you change your mind. The pro point is that the laptops tend to have less rubbish installed on them, than their equivalent consumer models. The specifcation of the Laptop I purchased was: AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual Core Processor TK-53 (1.7GHz,512KB) 2GB RAM Integrated ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 HyperMemoryTM 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280x800) display 120GB Hard Drive DVD+/-RW with Dual Layer DVD+R write capacity 4 USB Ports Wireless (G) Windows ... Dell XPS M1530 laptop
Review of Dell XPS M1530 by ilaskey

Advantages: Great feature set, fast, GFX card, HDMI out
Disadvantages: keyboard/touchpad could be better

...motherboard failure on my existing Dell Inspiron laptop and given its age, repair looked a bad move as one could buy a new laptop for less. However, once I decided to see what was available and given my two main criteria - a higher than usual resolution screen and three year warranty, I suddenly found the price spiraling upwards. After much searching I settled on an XPS M1530. The price on the Dell web site was around £1000 but a phone call to Dell ...
...blue lid and nice chromed Dell logo and the body looks smart but not overly flashy with its brushed aluminium and black plastic plus blue lights. The grill over the speaker does seem to attract bits of dust and dirt and needs a quick brush now and then to avoid it looking like you've just eaten your lunch on it (which to be fair is pretty much what is causing the bits) but apart from that the M1530 looks the part. The XPS M1530 comes with a fingerprint ... Read review
