My husband & I planned a touring holiday of Sicily last year and organised everything ourselves through the internet. We had five destinations dotted around the coast of sicily that we were planning on staying at. We booked the accommodation at each destination with different online companies as all were very competative. We booked our hotel for our first 3 night stay through Lastminute.com, paid the cost straight away and luckily printed off all the transaction details to take with us just in case. When we arrived at our destination with our 2 year old son in tow, the hotel had no idea we were coming. They had not been contacted about the booking nor had they been paid for the booking. We produced our printed details and the hotel said they would contact lastminute whilst they looked to see if they had any rooms available. We were very lucky that there had been a cancellation and we were given a room and the hotel must have confirmed with lastminute the booking. It could quite have easily turned and we could have been left in a foreign country with nowhere to stay. We never even had an apology from lastminute.
