Well.........After spending a week on deciding to take a trip down to birmingham with some family members who havent been, I decided to check laterooms.co.uk to see if I could get a cheap hotel deal..... I saw that the britannia hotel had a good rate on so decided to take up on that offer. I have stayed in the britannia in manchester and thought it was ok so based on that i decided to book. I booked this hotel room on the 3rd and reserved a double room with ensuite for the 15/10/09 which was plenty ample time. Normally when you book a hotel, they dont take payment until you get there and then check out after your stay but to my shock i checked my statement 2 days later and saw that the money had come out. I thought to myself oh well at least its paid for and i know what im getting. On the evening of the 15/10/09 i got to Birmingham, i found it quite difficult to find and the fact that you can only park in the pallasades car park and drag your luggage half way across the shopping centre is not a nice thing!!! When I got to the Britannia hotel to check in, I showed them my reservation form and to add to the narky mood that i was in, the reception manager told me they have over booked so there is no double rooms. I advised her that i booked this way in advance and that it has been paid for in advance that why cant i have my double room as i requested. She stated i could not have one and that as a gesture she could only give me a single at the same rate!!! i just laughed! I had a guest with me, did she really think i could coup up in a single bed ! I eventually ended up getting an extra room at no extra charge but when i walked into the room, it just smelt like damp!! Anyways the 2nd day i stayed at the Express holiday Inn and i must admit that was the best stay ever! and that was booked direct with them and they didnt take payment until i checked out! I will never book with laterooms again as i will always worry that i will not get what i requested in the 1st place and i think i talk for everyone that we just dont need the stress and hassle after a long drive!!
