I was recommended to try this gentle oil aimed towards babies when my daughter was a few weeks old and started to get dry skin. The midwife suggested that I try different oils on her skin after a bath to try to help add some extra moisture. I tried allsorts of things from well known brands like Johnson's Baby to basics like cooking oil and then I came across Lavera Baby Almond Skin Oil and it has to be the most effective one I've used so far.

What's in it?
The main ingredients of this oil are soybean oil, olive fruit oil, Almond oil, jojoba seed oil, calendula officialis flower oil, advocado oil, evening primrose oil and others.

How do you use it?
You simply apply it to your baby's skin in smooth motions to rub it gently into the skin. I put it onto my hands first, rub it loosely into my hands and then massage my baby's arms, legs and tummy. You really don't need a lot as it's oil-based it goes a long way. You can apply it to the nappy area to help prevent irritation of the nappy or you can put it onto already dry areas. I like to also use it as a massage oil and spend some time with my daughter relaxing, giving her a massage instead of it being a busy, hectic day it's a lovely bonding time to be able to relax. If your baby has dry skin and you're using it for this then it's recommended you use it after a bath to help restore moisture.

How does it work?
It soothes and calms your baby apparently although I'm not sure if it's the actual ingredients that do this or the fact that you're giving them skin to skin contact which is scientifically proven to release a relaxing hormone. The mixture of oils are designed to be gentle on baby's skin and to help it become more moisturised.

What does it smell like?
A very gentle smell, it's not at all over the top, just ever so slightly Almondy.

Is it easily rubbed in?
Not really no! It's an oil so it stays on the skin a long while and it's quite difficult to wash off your own hands after you've applied it to your baby. It doesl eave that oily texture toyour hands, however, I have found this is the case with all oils as it's just part of their make-up so this one is no worse than the others.

Does it work?
I certainly think so! My daughter's skin is less dry than before and feels a lot softer. It also helps us to have some bonding time knowing that we're killing two birds with one stone- bonding with massage and helping her dry skin. I have definitely noticed a difference and can only put it down to using this oil as I haven't changed anything else.

Would you recommend it?
I would...however it is more expensive at £7.99 for 200mls and there are much cheaper alternatives including just using organic sunflower oil from your local supermarkets... but like what was the case with myself if they don't work and you want to trysomething with more oils and yet still baby friendly then I would recommend spending that extra money on this. It's available from online stores such as amazon, I actually bought mine from Ebay!
