Advantages: Easy trading and potential for large returns. Disadvantages: Shares fall as well as rise. You need a bit of luck sometimes.
...I logged on to Self Trade after seeing the advert on TV and thought this was a great idea as I had been saying to myself for years "I will buy shares" but never quite got round to actually doing it. I was not disappointed. I read up on what I needed to know and started trading within a week. The site is very helpful and guides you through everything you need to know. There is a fixed charge of £12.50 commission per trade plus the mandatory 0.5% stamp duty (it's the law unfortunately) which makes this a cheap and easy place to make money on the stock market. They have also had a couple of good offers namely a free magnum of champers for your first trade (which has now finished I think) and their latest offer is free trading (i.e. no commission but you still pay stamp duty) for a month (Jan 2001) for all members, and free trading...

Advantages: Outstanding news and analysis Disadvantages: Quite costly
...You've got a glittering CV, countless stunning references and lucky interview underwear. You've spent a week in front of the mirror practising your witty repartee. You smell like a walking perfume factory. What's missing?
It's not another self-improvement guide promising all that palaver about acing interviews. You guessed it - it's The Economist.

However, a one-year UK print subscription currently costs £86, which also gives you several special issues each year. There's a fat...

Advantages: Reliable, trustworthy and reputable firm Disadvantages: Used agency staff on the delivery stage (see op)
..., without the restriction of an HGV licence and their laws. So the removals firms all said they’d have to do it in 3 days.
Day 1: Load up and drive.
Day 2: Drive
Day 3: Deliver
We went for the cheaper option of packing ourselves, not just because of the price, but because from our past experience we knew packers weren’t that careful and we didn’t want any unnecessary damages.
Now I’d have thought a local firm would be cheap but they came out with the dazzling price of £4000. I did look in the mirror, but couldn’t see GUM on my forehead. The price is because being a local crew they’d have to take all their crew with them and pay for food and accommodation, etc. Or is it because the Managing Director who came to see us drove a huge flash car!
Another national firm would also take their own crew but would charge us only £2500...
