Hayter Harrier 41 - electric start model
Review of Hayter Harrier 41 by FrancisofDorset

Advantages: Easy start
Disadvantages: Poor grass pickup in the damp. Can be awkward

Nice looking mower but let down by having poor ergonomics- the fold down handle is difficult to stow away as it catches on the engine and is difficult to pull up again as then it's trying to turn the motor over as the starter cord is stretched. The grass bag won't hold its full capacity, and catches on the wires and starter cord when picked up off the mower. The mower has poor grass pickup if there is the slightest bit of damp which means the grass ...
...is a bit clumsy to get around the fiddly bits on the lawn. This is the electric start model, and it starts easily and is quite quiet in use. (It also starts easily on its pull start cord). I only use it on nice summer days, the rest of the time I've gone back to the old petrol push mower. This way I get more exercise! ... Read review

Quality electric lawn mower
Review of Bosch Rotak 36 by oldgadger

Advantages: Cuts well, good grass collector, cuts close to the lawn edge
Disadvantages: None that I am aware of

This is a good mower. I had researched into the many various options, and was looking at petrol mowers, but as they tend to be quite heavy to be worthwhile for a small garden (mine is about 10 by 8 metres), I opted for this electric machine. It certainly does collect the cut grass. On leaving the lawn for two weeks (after using weed and feed) I cut it and was very pleased that the machine collected some 5 or 6 containers full. This was unusual, and ...
...my older hover mower. The cutting height is easily altered by a lever, although I tend to keep it in the height that suits my lawn the best. It also does cut very close to the lawn edge, provided there are no obstructions. On my other, and much smaller irregular shaped front lawn (about 5 by 3 metres), the mower is more difficult to use, and some may prefer the smaller version of the mower, or a hover. I find it very easy to push, and it cuts ... Read review

Cheap and effective lawn mower
Review of Sovereign 526756 by DCISmith

Advantages: Well priced, surprisingly powerful, adjustable cutting height, very lightweight
Disadvantages: The power switch handle seems quite delicate

Bought for £40 out of Homebase, I didn't imagine that this mower would be very good. After unboxing, the assembly was: 2 philips screws and 2 thumb screws, then snap the grass collection box together. It literally was that easy, you could be ready to mow in around 5 minutes. The first time I used it, the garden (which is quite big) was totally overgrown. The grass and weeds were between 6 inches and a foot tall. I started cutting and I was staggered ...
...the top of the weeds, cutting them cleanly. The motor didn't sound like it was struggling at all. The grass box seemed quite small in my situation, but I assure you, the garden was very overgrown. If the grass had been a normal height, the grass box would have needed emptied a only a couple of times, three at the most since everything in the box was well shredded. The last two points to make are the design - it is small, almost cute and is made ... Read review

Flymo Rollermo Electric Lawnmower
Review of Flymo Rollermo 1000W by blackhawk204

Advantages: Rear roller, folding handles.
Disadvantages: Lightweight roller.

...aware of (or own) the Flymo Easimo electric lawnmower, welcome to it's big sister, the Rollermow. The Rollermow was based on the original Flymo 4 wheel electric mower, the Easimo, but the clever old (maybe young) people at Flymo added a very simple, yet practical, plastic rear roller on the back. Now it is not the best of the bunch as electric rear roller machines go for a couple of reasons, 1 ~ The roller is constructed from plastic and so doesn't ...
...striped lawn, and 2 ~ It is not a full width roller, in other words it only spans the gap between the two rear wheels rather than edge to edge. Specification wise it is nearly identical to its little brother, ie, 32cm metal cutting blade, a manual 3-step height adjustment from 20-60mm finished off with a 29/30 litre grassbox, BUT it has an extra 100watts in it's motor, that's right, a full 100watts extra!!!. To be perfectly honest i cannot see why ... Read review

Flymo Visimo Lawnmower
Review of Flymo Visimo by blackhawk204

Advantages: Vision window, rear roller, quiet, metal cutting blade, folding handles and adjustable cutting height.
Disadvantages: Visions window does need cleaning now and then, plastic rear roller not perfect.

...and so this is where Flymo stepped in. I wanted a mower that would not only cut and collect the grass but also leave it with that bowling green striped finish, enter the Visimo. Perfect for the small to medium size garden, the Visimo boasts a 1200w motor, 32cm metal cutting blade, height adjustment from 20-60mm, rear roller, and vision collection window enabling the user to ''see'' when the grassbox is full and needs emptying. Not only is it very ...
...but it is a bargain for what you receive in return for the small fee paid. The vision window itself does require a quick wipe now and again to clean off the green grass stain otherwise it gets to the point where you cannot actually see through it. The rear roller is not exceptional, but it does leave that striped effect so many people desire. All in all a very good machine! ... Read review
