Yet another review of one of my favourite British foods – the humble sausage. We have purchased some Lawsons Sausages, which are skinless, and this was the primary reason for this purchase, as we were thinking that the twins would be able to better eat them as they have problems with the skin on some of the sausages they have been eating of late.
We purchased these from our local supermarket at £1.12 for a pack of 12. The sausages are averagely packaged. They sit side by side in a white container and are covered with a thin layer of cellophane. The packaging details the fact that these are made to a fine Scottish recipe and each one contains 273 calories. Obviously, this will increase if the sausage is fried or oil is added during the cooking process.I have personally never baked or friend these particular sausages. My method of cooking has always been on a barbeque. The sausages are a little unappetizing looking when raw. They are a very pale pink in colour and look fairly anaemic. They are a very thin looking sausage and do not look to contain a lot of meat.
Once cooked, the sausage is fair. By this I mean that they are certainly not the tastiest sausage I have ever eaten. The children find them easier to cut, chew and digest, due to the fact that they are skinless and of a smaller size than your average ‘grown up’ sausage. They are high in calorific content, considering they are such a small sausage and they also shrink a lot during the cooking process. These sausages do not have a great deal of taste. They lack the traditional ‘herby’ taste I like with a good British sausage and the overall taste can only be described as being bland and featureless. The colour improves upon cooking but they do not hold their shape well and have a tendency to fall apart due to their having no skin to hold them together.
An average sausage.

they sound terrible but maybe if you tried to fry them with some butter and olive oil you might get a better flavour.
