Le Creuset Stoneware Mug

I have had several different cups and mugs over the years. I find that they all do the same job, and that there isn’t much difference between them. I have also chipped and cracked many of them, too. Many of the cups and mugs I have owned have often become stained over time, and this can be a little off putting for a fuss pot like me.

I like a reasonable sized mug to enjoy a hot chocolate or a cup of refreshing green tea. My partner is the coffee drinker in the house, and he likes a gigantic mug for his needs. We have gone through a fair share of cups and mugs over the years, and find that they often need replacing every now and again due to wear and tear, or cups become damaged and unusable.

I had purchased a set of Le Crueset oven dishes, and I was so taken by them that I decided to order a set of their mugs. You’d be no mug to part with £10 for one of these colossal mugs. They have everything you’d ever want from a mug, even though you never expect much from a mug.

The mugs come well wrapped and packed for protection, so they arrive in pristine condition. They are nice big wide, deep mugs that hold 330 ml of liquid. They look impressive with the graduation of blue, and the three concentric rings around the lower body of the mug, which is the recognizable Le Crueset branding. The mugs are crafted from stoneware which is strong and durable. The surfaces are enamelled to give them a scratch resistant surface, and to prevent them from absorbing odours and flavours. This keeps them hygienic. They are also stain and chip resistant. The thick chunky mugs are microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe, and they are designed to go through extreme temperature changes.

The mugs look aesthetically pleasing with their stoneware graded smooth enamelled surfaces and deep colouring. They are thick and chunky without looking cumbersome.

Filling the mug with a favourite hot drink or cup-a-soup, you are presented with a full size drink to enjoy. The easy grip handle allows for easy transportation, and even with a boiling cup of drink there is no worry of the cup slipping or any accidental spillages occurring. Nor is there any risk of scolded fingers. The handle is easy to hold and makes carrying a hot drink easy.

The wide open top allows the drink to be inhaled before tasting. The rim is a good size which feels nice to drink from. Drinks remain hot for a reasonable amount of time, which is perfect if you have a busy lifestyle. The mugs are easily washed and they come up sparkling and looking like new each and every time.

These have to be my favourite mugs to date. I never knew a mug could be so pleasing and hardwearing. The mugs are comfortable to hold, and they hold a good amount of drink. They are of a high quality, and they are certainly worth the high price tag. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy more if needed. I have now purchased four of these mugs, and they have been going strong for almost a year. The exterior and exterior of each mug is still in excellent condition with no marks or stains. The colour hasn’t faded at all, and there are no marks, scratches or chips. They have proven to be good quality, and they have certainly reached their claims.

I am astounded that I have had these mugs for such a long time, yet they look to be in new condition. I believe these mugs are excellent value for money, as they keep on going, and they are made to last. The mugs come in a range of warm deep colours. There is also a range of matching components within their range that is available to buy separately. Other items include a classic teapot, a grand tea pot, a jug and sugar bowl. They are just perfect for that relaxing afternoon cup of tea.

I am mightily impressed with these mugs and now own a set of four, as they are worth every penny. I have never known a mug to be so durable and hard wearing, and I’m always amazed that they wash up clean time and time again. They still look to be new, as there are no nasty tea stains or discolouring which is unusual for a mug that has been used for such a long time. I have been happy with all my purchases from this range and I will continue to add to the collection. For a good quality mug, look no further, these are the best I have ever owned and used.

Le Crueset are best known for their ovenware, however, they have now extended their range, and are now seen as collectable items that are practical, functional and affordable.
