League Of Legends (PC)

Overview:

League of Legends models the gameplay of highly-popular game, Defense of the Ancients (DOTA), and does a great job at making major improvements to the original DOTA franchise! It is also FREE to play, which is fantastic. It can be directly downloaded at http://leagueoflegends.com, and it installs very quickly. Garena (Game client) is also required to play the game.

Gamplay:

Gameplay in League of Legends is intuitive if you are a seasoned DOTA player. Basically, you choose a "champion", which is the character you will use in the third-person perspective. This champion will have a unique set of abilities. You can choose from many different types of champions- tanks, mages, support-types and more. Using these champions, players battle for control of the battlefield and the end goal is to destroy the enemy's "Nexus" tower. For beginners, it will be tricky to pick up, but the reward for sticking to it is hours on end of fun! The game rewards practice as it is very skill-based. Practice does make perfect. Beginners should start with the tutorial matches, and slowly progress to play against "bots" (computer-controlled players) which are very player-friendly because they are easy to beat. They do not behave like human players, so they may run towards your character even when they are about to die. That is one downside to the League of Legends game. For seasoned DOTA players, you can start with the human vs human matches immediately, literally plug-and-play, and slowly progress to ranked matches, where the best players compete at the risk of losing/gaining points. The players in the world are ranked according to your performance in ranked matches.
