the pen to make lines and shapes, definitely helpful for first stages of learning to write. Like other books available this will help your child to learn things while playing fun games, I really like the way they 'voice' the different books with the characters makes it much more appealing to your child. It works for my Boy plus he's learnt plenty about car parts - both names and their uses !!
Purchased my book from eBay for £6 new. The My First LeapPadbooks are widely available and not hard to find, though I do recommend a search online to find the best deal.

Much like the program in the games you touch things with the pen when prompted by Dora. Has all the characters in it, Dora, Boots the monkey.
