My eighteen-month daughter loved Christmas this year. Not just because for the first time she was becoming aware of the food, the fairy lights, and the fact that those brightly wrapped parcels under the tree were things for her.
Her favourite present this year was Leapfrogs Baby Tad, another interactive educational gem from a company that specialises in these kinds of toys.
Baby tad is a cuddly green frog in a banana ... ...a selection of pressable buttons on his tummy, cheeks, arms and legs. It's just the right size for my daughter to be able to pick him up, hug him, and carry him around, and he costs around 19.99 from most decent toyshops.
This toy is recommended for children over six months, but is definitely just right for children of around a year upwards when they start to become more attuned to their environment and to learn more.

Baby tad is a cuddly green frog in a banana yellow romper suit with a wide smile, bright eyes, and a selection of pressable buttons on his tummy, cheeks, arms and legs. It's just the right size for my daughter to be able to pick him up, hug him, and carry him around, and he costs around 19.99 from most decent toyshops.

Before you can start to use this adorable little fella, you need to insert 3aa batteries into the box in the back of his rompersuit, for which you will need a small cross head screwdriver. This is always the bit I hate, but on children’s toys it’s an excellent safety precaution to stop your little ones getting hold of the batteries and sucking on them.
After this you simply switch on using the on off button on his left foot, and away you go.
So, what features does this cuddly little chap have? Well if you look at his hands, the left one has a moon on it for nightime use, and his right hand has a sun, obviously daytime.
He has two daytime buttons, which include a shape and colour recognition game, where you have to press on the shape that’s flashing, and you a rewarded by a yell of 'Yay, that’s the red heart' and a cheery little tune' Or, you can simply press the daytime hand, and one of six nursery rhymes will be sung to your child. Mine loves this, and she sings along with some of the songs, and dances too. She can also, after just two weeks, say square and circle, and point to the relevant shape while doing so, so she is definitely learning.
On the nightime hand, you can press the hand to set up to six minutes of classical music to send your child of to bed with and help them wind down. It's easy to set the time, simply press the hand once for one minute, twice for two, and so on. There are six classical melodies, including Brahms Lullaby, and Beethoven’s Adieux. I find this feature definitely helps her to go to sleep at night, and also helps soothe her during the day if she becomes fretful. There is also a handy volume control located on the battery panel so you can set the frog to a quieter level for nightime use.
Also, on the cheek is a pair if lips which you can press, which then kiss and say 'I love you’. My daughter loved pressing this, and always kisses him back.
The material is hardwearing, and this is very useful, as my daughter likes to drag her toys about all over the place. One downside though is that because of the batteries and electronic components, you can't wash this, but can only clean with a damp cloth.
This toy only comes with a three-month warranty, which is a shame, although I’ve had no trouble with the toy so far I'd like to have that reassurance for a little longer.
All in all this is a great toy that combines excellent value, education, and cuddliness all in one. My daughter loves it, and I have to confess, so do I!
I'm deducting one star though for the fact that it only has a short warranty and cannot be washed.
Advantages: A delight to babies, Colourful, Cute, Plays songs. Disadvantages: Can't wash baby Tad.
Baby Tad is a very colourful soft teddy frog which is bright green with a yellow t-shirt on and over that a bright orange romper suit. Baby tad has big white, black and green eyes with a big smile, very friendly looking.
On the front of baby Tad you will see a very large white square which inside you will find 6 different shapes and colours.
A yellow Star.
A Red love-heart.
A Blue square
A Green Circle
An orange triangle A Purple half moon.
... ...will tell your baby the name of the shape and also the colour.
For eg.. your baby presses the yellow star, the yellow star will light up and baby Tad will say "this is the yellow star"
Baby Tad also has a moon button on one of his hands (night time button) and a sun on the other (day time button) If you press the sun hand you and your baby will hear 6 lovely, delightly songs, such as
Ba,Ba,Black Sheep.
If you're happy and you know it, Clap Your ...

Advantages: Can be your childs best friend Disadvantages: you do get fed up hearing it.....
We bought our daughter Baby Tad from leap Frog when she was just 6 months now she has only just turned 3 and Tad is still in bed with her as her best friend.I cant remember how much we payed for him then but I do know that you can get this at Woolworthsor ToyRus for around the price of £19.99.
If you havent guessed already Tad is a Baby frog hence the name. This toy has a recommended age of 6 months. And is about the size of a six month old baby ... ...in some countrys. And comes in quite a large box with a handle.
To first use you have to put the batterys into the box located inside the back of Tad. You will need a small screwdriver for there is a tiny screw there so child cant take out the battery when you are not looking like my daughter loves to do.
When you have done this you do have to press the on and off foot on his right foot to activate him . Anytime after that, squeeze one of the hug ...

Well ! baby tad is a green frog with a yellow body suit on, enourmous eyes and a big wide grin, hes got a chest full of brightly coloured buttons which come in the form of assorted shape, both his hands have buttons, one for day time and one for night time, and on his cheek youl find little lips.
WHAT DOES IT DO?
If u press the button with the lips, it makes a weird kissing noice, and i love you, now ... ...NO. thats not a womens voice(a very annoying one at that). I had expected a childs voice as I thought baby tad was ment to be a baby himself. BACK TO THE POINT!! press the daytime hand to play . On its chest or bib, all the shapes(buttons) sing different lullabies. women sings again. you can also play a little game where a shape will flash and when baby touches it, the women says well done thats the red hart(and bursts into song). then another shape ...

Advantages: Learning fun, good value for money Disadvantages: -
Having just read the review on 'Baby Tad', I thought I'd share my thoughts on the next stage - Little Leap.
Little Leap is for kids aged 2+ and has an interactive tummy covered in the alphabet. Not only does it teach the alphabet but also teaches colours, numbers and manners. All the letters of the alphabet and numbers are different colours with the alphabet on the tummy and the numbers on the fingers. It has a cute little voice and offers game ... ...is where the child has to find a particular coloured letter with the help of clues from Little Leap.

Advantages: Different play modes, educational, plays Lullabies Disadvantages: Can be a little loud
I have had a BabyTad since my son was first born and he absolutely adores playing with him!He has the cutest green face and a lovely sing-song voice which all children adore, and unlike some childrens toys is an English accent.
He has 2 different modes, daytime where he plays games, such as find the purple triangle, and he sings nursery rhymes, and night time where he plays soft gentle lullabies for up to 6 minutes(You can choose from 1-6 minutes depending how long it takes your little one to drop off!). He has an interactive tummy which is very sensitive, so easy for young fingers to press. He teaches Colours, Shapes and Songs like 'Twinkle Twinkle' and 'If your happy and you know it'. He has 2 different volume levels, as he can be quite loud.He can be wiped clean with a damp cloth if he gets a little grubby.
He is great value ...
