BRIEF HISTORY OF THOMAS AND FRIENDS

Thomas was created in the early 1940's and is a creation of Reverend Wilbert Awdry. All good things have simple beginings so it seems right that Thomas came to life in the early 1940's as a wooden toy which Reverend Awdry made for his son.
Thomas and his friends work on the railways of the island of Sodor which is a fictional island in the irish sea. Thomas has the responsibility of running a branch line and carrying passengers on his two coaches Annie and Clarabl to the main line.

Conductor's Shed :Lever at side operates this and barrier moves up and down.

Windmill: Blades really turn.

Engine Shed: With opening door and lever which when pushed sends train out of engine shed.

Trains: Thomas, Percy, James, Lady, Daisy, Sir Handel, Toby, Jeremy and Diesel(there are loads more trains and vehicles to collect like Alfie the Digger). All trains come with their name printed underneath(see photograph), collectors card and they also have magnetic couplings to front and back. Some of the trains you push around the track but others are battery operated and when you press a button on the top they go themselves.

Full Sets e.g: Mountain over pass set, Thomas and Toby set and Jeremy and the airfields set.

Large flat board with scenery: Is great if you want to store under a bed or cot.

Cargo: Magnetic so Cranky can pick it up.

These train sets encourage creative play, active imagination and help with a child's fine motor skill's (children love to piece the set together themselves).

Overall

Although expensive it is worth the money and you don't have to buy a full set you can build your set up bit by bit. Worth looking on E-bay as well as sometimes you can get it cheaper.
