Oh my! I have just Kicked the behind out of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and let me tell you, It's amazing.
These games, for me, are reason enough to buy a console. So what if it's fancy, if I can't get my Zelda fix, it's not worth it.
As you may have noticed I am a little biased towards the "wow it's great" side of things. Don't worry though. I hated the game to start with.
A basic run down of the story behind the games is as follows:
You are Link (at least you are if you stick with the default name) Link is a boy who has been brought up in a small farming community in the forest. One fine day crazy things start happening. The sky opens up and a bunch of dark monsters fall from it, the local children are kidnapped by them, along with you and your best friend. Luckily you have been blessed by the gods with a little more luck than the others and mange to escape. It becomes your mission to save your friends, and later the Princess Zelda. Throughout your quest you meet lots of new and old characters,
pick up a tonne of new abilities and kick a LOT of ass.
I would go a lot more into detail, but I don't really want to ruin the game for anyone who is yet to play it.
The game starts off quite slow. Theres a lot of meaningless tasks and running around to do before you even get your sword and shield and your basic moves.
Being a full fledged Zelda fanatic, this annoyed me. I wanted my sword. I wanted to Kick some monster butt. It is, however, so that everyone can pick the game up and learn everything you need to know about the game.
Again, with the knowing Zelda games, I didn't cope well with a few of the changes they threw in. Simple things annoyed me, such as where everything was on the map. It's completely different from previous games so my brain spent some time rearranging it and shouting "NO!! THAT VILLAGE IS OVER THERE!!!!"
It's all good though. After a very short time playing the game I accepted that the sheer size and quality of the game means they can get away with jiggling the layout round a little.
One thing that cheered me up a lot is the fact that, in typical Zelda style, there are a lot of characters and names taken from the N64 games and used in this one. It's full of little things that the Zelda geeks such as myself will notice and laugh at. The fact I got to name my horse also made me smile (I was original and went with Póny)
As for gameplay... 10 out of 10! The fact the game is on the Wii makes it that much more fun as you get to slash and dice all over the place with your controller. The swordplay is a lot more involved and there are a plethora of new techniques to learn that make it a game to please those with a thirst for fighting.
The difficulty of this game really depends on how far you wish to delve into it. As always the game is full of mini tasks and games that utilise the Wii- remotes amazingly (fishing being one of the most tiring things I have ever done with a console!)
The temples can be a little hard at times, but its nothing that a little patience and some brain power wont overcome. If you want to complete it to the fullest, you'll have to do all the mini games which at times can be frustratingly difficult (but in that fun kinda way) If you just want to have a quick run through the game, thats also possible (and by quick i mean a week or so) It is not imperative that you play every mini game and do every little quest for you to complete it.
The designs and graphics deserve a shout out. Firstly they got rid of that ghastly rugrats-esq animation. They went back to the N64 style and imrpoved on it a lot. The game is quite visually stunning an unique throughout, hell, it even inspired my next tattoo!
Music wise, I am in love with this game. It's evolved past those computerised noises in the music to much more realistic scores. Some of the songs from other games have been used and improved apon so it's great for my fellow Zelda geeks to hear. I go round humming the tunes from this game all the time.
The thing that really clinched it for me is the fact that this game has grown up (not a lot, but a little) in comparison to the others. There are some very dark themes in the game and some brilliant story telling that, at times, left me totally creeped out. On top of this there is some great humour in this game, something the other games weren't all too great at.
Price wise, it's the same as any other games that are out so nothing to grumble about there.
This is definatley one I will be going back to again and again. If you haven't tried it, give it a blast. If you have tried it, go play it again!!

Advantages: Zelda- Back To It's Best! Great Graphics, Gameplay + storyline! Disadvantages: That you don't really get to settle down + bosses a little too easy.
Advantages: Intuative gaming experience, accessible to a variety of gamers, plenty of extra features. Disadvantages: Will have to look slightly harder to compensate for the hardcore nintendo fans
