...will receive in the Advent calendar. ★ My Opinion ★ I am really pleased that my ever generous parents decided to buy this for my son. It really has been a lovely present, even though he hasn't started to open it yet. His anticipation is amazing and I know that he really appreciates the amount that it has cost. The Lego is age appropriate, and will not be too hard for Small Fry to put the pieces together. The box is really quite festive, without being overtly religious so it would make an ideal gift for most children who celebrate Christmas. It is suitable for boys or girls, although a very girlie girl would probably appreciate the Clickets calendar more. Lego is a fantastic toy, the fact that my children can still play with the Lego that I had as a child shows that it has real durability and staying power as a toy... Read review

Hundreds of these little lego people stand around our model city and inspire very creative games amongst our visitors. The only problem is that there are far more male than female models; my sons didn't mind, and nor do the small boys who play with it now, but it does mean that some girls don't really develop an interest in it. * Lego as an educational toy * Apart from the obvious constructions skills and imagination required to play with Lego, there are other more direct educational benefits. For instance, when my sons were about three or four, they understood conceptually about odd and even numbers, due to the different sizes of basic Lego bricks. There are thin Lego pieces, just one 'block' thick, and also wider ones... Read review

For example, Lego launched a series of software including the famous Legoland game, in which you build and manage a theme park similar to Legolands around the work and Lego Racer, a childish car racing game. Another example is the popular Clickits series for girls. They make non-Lego accessories by linking together different object, to create an attractive picture frame for example. I don't know much about these as they're relatively new. Now naturally the famous Duplo, bigger objects, but still heavily Lego based. The bricks are larger than Lego, the characters are and it has a tendency to include animals. These are for pre-school children. Lego Mindstorms are robots made out of Lego style object.
