Tis the Season to Play Lego

Advantages: It's Lego!!
Disadvantages: Not Cheap!!

Continuing on my quest to review all things Christmassy, here I am with Advent review number 2. So with my deepest apologies to all those bah humbuggers out there, may I invite you back to Beckie's grotto. Why don't you pull up a chair, help yourself to a glass of warm mulled wine, and a mince pie (Marks and Spencers with a dusting of icing sugar to make them look homemade). This year, as always, my children have been well and truly spoilt by their Grandparents. In a departure from traditional or even chocolate Advent calendars they have both been given rather posh Advent calendars. Shortie has a Playmobil one, and big brother "Small Fry" (aged 7 and a half!) has a Lego Advent calendar. When I was little I always had an Advent calendar to count down the days to Christmas, but mine were cardboard and had little pictures of robins ...

Review of Lego City Advent Calendar

Lego City Police Station - 7744 - Great addition to lego fans!

Advantages: Assembly in stages, easy to follow for older children/adults
Disadvantages: Base a bit floppy for moving the police station around

My son got this Lego City Police Station for his 8th birthday. We paid £48.89 from Argos for it. It took me and my husband quite a while to help my son build it. But the end result was great. It comes in one box. Within the box are smaller bags. All the bags are numbered and all have a booklet inside for the particular part of the police station/vehicle. None of the items were missing, there were a few bits over though, which come in handy for the lego box! It is really easy to follow (for an adult), but I don't think my 8 year old would have had the knowledge or patience to build it himself. Some children his age probably could, but I'd say any child would probably need a bit of help from an adult. I think it's quite nice to have adult and child building something together anyway, so this isn't a disadvantage in my eyes! My ...

Lego - 'let's you go'.

Advantages: See text.
Disadvantages: See text.

money - the only outlay that you will have is the initial cost of actually buying the Lego in, which isn't very much depending on where you buy it from. But with that said, the only Lego sets that I have seen recently in shops have been actual models of cars; bikes; helicopters etc or hospital sets (i.e. set things to build with instructions), but no actual sets of just random Lego blocks for you to use at your own leisure. However, that doesn't stop you from using the bricks in the sets as general pieces to build something else with! Wear and tear wise, these bricks can go on for years - many of mine have even been through the washing machine! But they can get lost or stuck in various different places, or may get broken if trodden on with enough force. All in all, I would strongly recommend any individual to look in to getting someLego ...
