Advantages lots!
Disadvantages few!
Last Christmas my children both received an alarming number of presents. Many of the cheaper stocking filler toys have now been either consigned to the bin or lay discarded in the toy cupboard. However a few toys and games have been well played with and amongst these stars, I would count Lego at the top of the list. One of the best presents was a Lego game given as a joint present to my 7 and 10 year old boys.
The Lego Ramses pyramid game number 3843, is different from many other board games on the market in that you first have to build the 3-D playing set yourself. It comes in a large colourful cardboard box that really makes this game look very exciting! Inside the box are over 200 pieces including-I base board.
Lego bricks for building the pyramid13 micro figures.
1 buildable Lego dice.1 rule booklet.
1 building instruction booklet. As you would expect from Lego all the pieces are really well made and fit together perfectly.
Playing the game.I think this is a fairly complicated game and the suggested age range of 8 and upwards maybe a bit too young. However I will try to explain the rules as simply as possible. Each player is an explorer and has to try the reach the top of the pyramid to defeat the evil King Ramses who is planning to conquer Egypt. To do this you have to move around the brown movement spaces .Before you can climb the pyramid you need to have the correct coloured crystals. Crystals can be found underneath the domes. When you receive a crystal of the wrong colour, you will need to replace it under a dome. Your opponent has to try to remember where the different coloured crystals have been placed.
Not only do you need to collect correctly coloured crystals to proceed on your journey, you also need to avoid the mummies! The pyramid can be rotated by your opponents to make your journey even more difficult. Top win the game you need to get safely to the top of the pyramid and roll a mummy tile on the dice.My opinion.

I really like this game as it can be used in several ways. I have already mentioned that my youngest son likes to create his own game using the play pieces and pyramid. The suggested game is quite complicated but gets easier with a bit of practice! I like the fact that this is not just a game of chance, but requires a bit of skill. You need to use your memory to remember where certain coloured crystals have been placed and you can use tactics to try to prevent your opponents from getting to the top of the pyramid before you do.

200 pieces are a definite drawback.
