I would just like to write a review on the benefits and/ or the downfalls of Lego, something that even at the age of 26 I do still enjoy playing with with my brother's four children - any comments, you will get a slap!
Lego are those small little bricks that no doubt will have played a part in the life of any child, at some point during their early lives. It is something that has been around for many years, as my two older brothers (being 36 and 38) both also used to play with it themselves along with their own friends - in fact, most of mine was hand downs from them!
There are many different bricks used in Lego, from rectangular bricks through to doors; windows; wheels, and even the bases on which to build your masterpieces on too have shown at the Tate Modern!

Advantages: Assembly in stages, easy to follow for older children/adults Disadvantages: Base a bit floppy for moving the police station around
My son got this Lego City Police Station for his 8th birthday.
We paid £48.89 from Argos for it.
It took me and my husband quite a while to help my son build it. But the end result was great.
It comes in one box. Within the box are smaller bags. All the bags are numbered and all have a booklet inside for the particular part of the police station/vehicle. None of the items were missing, there were a few bits over though, which come in handy for the lego box!
It is really easy to follow (for an adult), but I don't think my 8 year old would have had the knowledge or patience to build it himself. Some children his age probably could, but I'd say any child would probably need a bit of help from an adult. I think it's quite nice to have adult and child building something together anyway, so this isn't a disadvantage in my eyes!

★ My Opinion ★
I am really pleased that my ever generous parents decided to buy this for my son. It really has been a lovely present, even though he hasn't started to open it yet. His anticipation is amazing and I know that he really appreciates the amount that it has cost.
The Lego is age appropriate, and will not be too hard for Small Fry to put the pieces together.
The box is really quite festive, without being overtly religious so it would make an ideal gift for most children who celebrate Christmas. It is suitable for boys or girls, although a very girlie girl would probably appreciate the Clickets calendar more.
Lego is a fantastic toy, the fact that my children can still play with the Lego that I had as a child shows that it has real durability and staying power ...
