I am a 30-year-old guy going on 15 and from this review you will probably see why.
For my birthday recently I received some money as a present from my mum but had nothing in mind to buy, as my birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas.
Having said that I am one for not having money burning a hole in my pocket so I surfed the net in search of something for me.
Now I have grown up with both star wars and Lego I still have tucked away in my attic all of both from my childhood, and there is no way I am going to part with all that stuff, but that’s a different story.
I work on the net a lot and had never thought of these or seen them until I happened on the Lego website to my joy, I order a catalogue on the site, which is free.
And found Lego had come a mighty long way in the 15 to 20 years since I bought or was bought my last set.
But to my great happiness Lego had created star wars sets, I was happy to say the least and with my birthday money was overjoyed until I saw the range of prices, from 1.99 to 249 pounds and 99 p.
Having 30 quid somewhat limited my options but hey! It was a gift and one which allowed me something that I would greatly enjoy, granted I would build it then take it apart and place it back in the box just knowing I had one.
Also taking great care in opening and handling the box because that’s the way I am, weird you may say, but after some lengthy searches on the net I found there wasn’t much variance in price so I opted to get mine right away at my local toys r us.
I paid 24.99 for the B-wing fighter, which I found, was the going rate and the only going rate at that.
To my horror and the glee of my wife when I got it home she pointed out that on the box it said the toy as for the age range 7 to 12 ho hum was my thought.
As my birthday had been my 30th you could say this is a little sad but I was and still am excersing the demons from my childhood, (SADO) I here you say, wait until you hear about my transformer experience.
The B-wing fighter
Anyone who is star wars buff will know this one as it is a weird shape much like a cross with a rotating cockpit for the pilot at the top and two fold down wings in the middle.
Each wing has a gun and the bottom of the main ship also has cannons, it is a hard ship to describe so I will upload a picture.
The Lego set come with a pilot a stand/work area as the ship needs it or it would be awkward to put down or display, there are 435 pieces to this set which can be used to make the ship or numerous other ideas some of which are shown on the back of the box.
The ship has working missiles and is easy to build hence the 7 to 12 year old age range the missile provide working fun and the making of the ship is as Lego always was lots of fun.
This would keep a child happy for a few hours at Christmas with the added genius which is Lego a few more hours creating something of there own with the blocks.
Finding this set and the others has set on a path of joy, collection and expense but I wont be able to let it go and the bigger sets are on my shopping list, I only wish I thought of it sooner.
Basically I would say you can’t go wrong with two famous brands like this Lego and star wars, and having a suitable range of prices for sets is a bonus.
This is a great present for lads but also for men as I have proven, they may not say it but anyone who grew up with these would I bet and/or hope would love it.
