Lego Technic looks quite different from the 'normal' Lego that we all know. The parts are smaller than the normal lego bricks. It is like a more 'grown up' lego. The models that you make with it are usually articulated and quite advanced.
The model took us around 6 - 7 hours ... ...The really cool thing about lego technic is that you usually get 2 sets of instructions to make two different models so that you can choose which one you want to make. Not only can you make a combine harvester but also included in the box is instructions to make a Dragster (I'm not entirely sure what this is, but it looks a lot like some kind of racing car!) you can't make both of them at the same time though, there are only enough parts to build ... more
Me and my boyfriend received this for Christmas from my parents. We tried to make it together doing different parts, but since you have to follow the instructions very carefully and do one step after another this was not really working, so I just had to sit next to my boyfriend and watch while he did it!
My mum got this from John Lewis for £49.99 but it is also available from the Lego website for the same price. I have also seen Lego Technic available in Toys'R'Us so it is not hard to get a hold of.

The model took us around 6 - 7 hours to assemble. Very good for keeping people entertained! I find it so rewarding putting the pieces together and following the instructions to make something that looks really impressive.
It looks really good on display and is a great conversation piece! It is currently looking very swish on a table in the corner of our sitting room.
The total length of the combine harvester is a massive 17 inches! It really is impressive.
The age on the box is 10 - 16 years, but personally I thought this was quite tricky to make, especially since there are so many pieces and the actual combine harvester is so big. I'm not sure I would have managed it when I was 10! There are 1025 pieces in the model.
I would take care not to loose any pieces whilst making this, we had to stall our assembling for a little while while we searched for one tiny piece that we could not continue without! I would advise putting all the parts on either a tray or in boxes.
There are 2 instruction booklets to follow to make the combine harvester, which is a total of 113 pages.
The really cool thing about lego technic is that you usually get 2 sets of instructions to make two different models so that you can choose which one you want to make. Not only can you make a combine harvester but also included in the box is instructions to make a Dragster (I'm not entirely sure what this is, but it looks a lot like some kind of racing car!) you can't make both of them at the same time though, there are only enough parts to build either one or the other. We have only made the Combine Harvester.
Once assembled all of the parts were really secure and nothing was falling off. I reckon that you could play with this easily and quite aggressively without anything breaking.
The instructions are really easy to follow. There are pictures for every step that you have to do which really helps, and the order you are meant to do them in is clearly marked.
Not only do the wheels turn round on the Combine Harvester so that you can roll it around but it also has a steering wheel that you can turn that will actually turn the wheels in the right direction! It is really clever the way that it is made. There is also a chute that comes out of the side that the hay would normally come out of (I have no idea what it is called!) but you can pull this out so it looks like a real combine harvester. It also has a detachable cutting bit at the front (I'm not too good with technical tractor terms!) but this is also really similar to the real thing.
I would say that the model looks really like a real replicate of a Combine Harvester (although obviously made from Lego Technic!)
I also think that this is quite a good educational toy to make. It is really good for coordination and following instructions, and it is really interesting and not tedious in the slightest!
I would highly recommend this product. It is so much fun to make and not only can you make the Combine Harvester but you can also make another model too. This will keep people amused for hours. It is quite expensive, but I guess all Lego is!
