Thomas Tube Light

This Thomas Tube Light is manufactured by Decofun. It is basically a lamp with an energy saving light bulb inside. The tube light is cyclindrical and is 23.5cm in height with a 13cm diameter.

This lamp is designed to be used as a table lamp and is suitable for children over the age of 36months. The light is mainly blue with a train track design border and large pictures of Thomas, James and Percy. The lamp needs to be plugged into a mains socket and is a standard UK plug. The lamp can be turned on and off by using the switch on the wire.

My Thoughts

Leisurebrands Thomas The Tank Tube Light
When our son was growing a little old for a Winnie Pooh themed bedroom, we updated it to his favourite character, Thomas the Tank. We bought lots of accessories and opted for this tube light. I believe we purchased this from Wilkos at the time and paid around £15.00. I believe this is a fair price to pay for something that is used nearly every day. The lamp came boxed and there was no assembly required.
Bedtime For Thomas and Boo

This lamp is a decent size. It is made of various bits of plastic slotted together securely. The lamp itself has a brilliant design which is very eyecatching and bright. When the lamp is switched off, it simply shows blocks of colour and pictures. The wire isn't very long but this is designed to be used as a table lamp and most children would have a small cabinet beside their bed. Our son does but doesn't have a plug socket there. This light is currently on top of his wardrobe next to his small television. It is a stretch to get it to reach there but an extension plug does help!

With this being up high, Boo can't reach the switch so we need to do this for him. Boo likes to read in bed at night time and rather than have the big light on, this lamp offers a more suitable source of light for him. The lamp once lit up is quite bright and illuminates around his room. I do find the light a little strong especially in the run up to bedtime so we only leave it on for around 30mins then give Boo his Toy Story night torch. Where we have it placed, I find it more convenient than having it right next to Boos bed as the light filters a bit better.

I currently have this on in our living room whilst reviewing it and it does provide a strong glow but not enough to fill our large, odd shaped living room! The light isn't as strong as a proper table lamp though hence it being ideal for a childrens bedroom. There is enough light to allow a child to read a book or play with a toy. It is too strong to leave on to go to sleep with on.

The light is constant all around the lamp and the characters and designs jump out and look very colourful and entertaining. The base of the light has a hard, plastic finish which allows it to sit steady on a surface and not topple over. The plastic around the middle does remain cool to the touch and although it isn't the thickest, it has survived drops and a housemove with no splitting.

I'm sure it isn't really as bright as the phone pic is making it out to be...that could kill off a whole legion of Gremlins if it were.
