Advantages: WOW - does the job, makes you breathe more easily! Disadvantages: not great if you don't like menthol!

I found it very drinkable, not unpleasant - but it is definitely an acquired taste.

It was inevitable that I was going to catch the dreaded cold - everyone around me had gone down with it so it was only a matter of time. The cold virus invaded me a couple of weeks back - making me feel drowsy and like my head was full of cotton wall. My throat was inflamed.
Feeling sorry for myself I thought I would treat myself to a nice lemsip and an early night! I bought ordinary lemon ones as that were all the shop had. However my hubby was not satisfied for this and later went out to source me some stronger ones….. He came back with these Lemsip Max Sinus!
They are the usual lemon lemsip's but also have a twist of added menthol flavor! The front of the packaging claims 'dual action' for pressure pain and blocked sinus's… there is the usual warning on the front that this product contains paracetamol (indicating this is a medical product not just a drink).
Looking on the back these Max ones have 350mg more paracetamol than the ordinary ones - having a total of 1000mg. The paracetamol are for the relief of headaches, sore throat, fever, body aches and pains.
There is also another active ingredient - Phenylephrine Hydrochloride (12.2mg) which is the decongestant for blocked or runny noses!
So reading the pack I thought this sounded just what I needed - so I opened a pack straight away… I tipped the contents of the pack into a mug and added the hot water - the colour of the liquid is the same a slight yellowy tinge… There is a slight smell of menthol in the air…. It smells quite appealing to me!
Once I let it cool I took a sip - wow I was pleasantly surprised. The taste is bitter like the original and the lemon part tastes the same as the original but the difference is there is a massive kick of menthol that shoots right up your nose and down your throat….. It was a surprise how strong it was at first - but it certainly did the job it made breathing a lot easier.
Because of the menthol I did not feel the need to add a spoonful of sugar to the lemsip (which I do need to the original). I found it very drinkable, not unpleasant - but it is definitely an acquired taste.

I personally prefer this to the original - I like the menthol kick. I would say if you are someone who is not keen on menthol, do not go for this product as it's certainly not a subtle flavor!
This product can be given to adults and children over 12, it states NOT to give to children under 12 unless you have sought medical advice!
The cost of these were £4.50 for a 10 sachet pack- but this was not from a main stream store - so I am sure you could get them a bit cheaper from say Tesco's.
So in conclusion I would recommend this product if you have blocked sinuses as it will definitely clear the passage ways. I do always think that these products are over inflated in price though as its 45/50p per sachet - that seems a lot for paracetamol with flavorings! However, I would happily pay this for the menthol ones as it really did help me sleep easier!
If you are reading this and suffering from these symptoms - I wish you well soon!
Advantages: Tastes good, quite cheap, works a treat Disadvantages: none
Lemsip Max Sinus is an absolute Godsend, as far as I'm concerned. I'd been feeling a bit dodgy all week and then towards Christmas Eve it really hit me. I was feeling achy all over with a sore throat and a cough and my sinuses were all blocked. We had the mother in law coming over for Christmas Day so I needed petrol in the car and the wife asked me to put it through the car wash. I went to our local supermarket (Tesco) and did the car thing, then ... ...Not like the usual Lemsip stuff. I took them home and poured a sachet into a mug and stirred. The menthol aroma was fairly pungent but my God it worked on the old sinuses!!!! It cleared them out like you wouldn't believe. I added 3 spoons of sugar as it needed a bit of sweetness. Each satchet has got 1000mg of paracetamol and kids under 12 cant take them (for obvious reasons) but if you are a menthol lover (like me) then I'd recommend these little ...
