IBM Thinkpad x41 with the Ultrabase is the best and most powerful laptop of its kind. 1.3 kg and with the 8 cell battery up to 6 hours operating time, it is mostly suited for travelers and collage students
Instead of the standard 512 mb of RAM, ive got the 1.5 GB installed, so it is faster and has better performance.
It has the touchpoint interface, which is the second best after the mouse because it is more precise than the touchPad.
The ThinkLight HDD protection is useful when you are traveling by bus or train because it suits itself to repeated bumps and allows the HDD run even with heavy vibration.
As suited to IBMs, there is a little light in the edge of the monitor, which is very good in the dark.
Especially I like the location of the processor cooling vent, which is on the side and keeps the processor cool even through extended periods of heavy processing.
Also, the keyboard is among of the best to use. I can guarantee, that the precision and ease of use suits to everyone
But with all the good things in life there must be negative things also.
One thing, which is common to the TouchPoint, is the "ghostmovment" of the cursor. This happens when you apply uneven pressure to one destination. But this is logical and is easy to fix.
Also, the Pentium M is not as fast as the Celeron in small application, but is suited for heavy processing.
And the most negative thing is the graphics power. It cant run DirectX9 games and it runs earlier versions of DirectX games too fast.
The covering material of the monitor is somewhat delicate and scratches fast.
But the known fact to all ThinkPads is that they are very rigid and strong. The construction is extremely strong and you can even drop it and nothing happens.
I strongly recommend IBM X41 with ultrabase. It provides the best user experience, even better than Mac.
