Advantages: Well written, mysterious story Disadvantages: could be disturbing but I found no disadvantages
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
I picked this book up at the Westfield Centre in Derby at the Book crossing shelf in Gloria Jean?s cafe. I love looking through what others have put up for sharing while I enjoy my cup of coffee. This book attracted me because of its colour scheme of orange and green which I thought might be a book based in Africa but I was mistaken. The next thing that struck me was the mysterious title and the fact that it was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2005.
I had not heard of Kazuo Ishiguro prior to picking this book up but when I looked inside I discovered that he was the author of ?Remains of the Day? which was a film I really found fascinating but I hadn?t read the book. Ishiguro has written five novels prior to ?Never Let Me Go? but this is the first of his books that I have read myself.
The novel ...
Advantages: Something Different, Great to get into a good mood with Disadvantages: Not as Rocky As Avril'd like
the softer sounds at the start of the track.
As an opener it does well, it gives you an idea of what you?ve let yourself in for, as a stand-alone track then no - its not single material, but its just enough to make you want to keep going, giving you a good idea of what vocal range Avril has (obviously ranging from the soft quiet tone?s of the verse?s to the loud screaming sounds of the chorus), so it ain?t done nowt wrong for me.
2. Complicated (4 min?s 5 seconds): If you haven?t heard of this one get your head out of the sand now - some people are using it as a good indication for what the album?s going to be like to listen to - when they shouldn?t, it?s just that this is the track that has the catchiest tune so of course, if they release it as single first, you?re going to hook more of your part-time album buyers in.
This ain?t Punk ...
Advantages: ♪♪♪It's Avril Lavigne, good music, good lyrics, interesting parts ("milk & cheerios in your spoon"?) She co-wrote all the songs on the album too♪♪♪ Disadvantages: Not enough tracks!
Great album, its not just another solo 'Britney style' CD... because its good :o) :P. 'My world' . 'Nobody's fool' . 'sk8er boi' . 'complicated' . 'losing grip' some great songs, i'm glad i bought it! If you like punk-skater-style-pop-rock-rappy-type-stuff then this is the album for you!
French-canadians rock ;P :o) :o) ;p

Opinions on seperate tracks:
1. Losing Grip: Great song & set to be third single!
Good fast bouncy song that is a great start to the album. You are automatically pleased with it. :D
2. Complicated: You probably have heard this on the radio, ♪Why'd ya have to go and make things so complicated♪ etc. Her first single.
3. Sk8er Boi: This is the rockiest song on the album. It's been released as her second single. It has been compared with Blink 182 and other American ...
This book is completely revised and updated for 2007, "Let's Go Germany" is researched and compiled entirely by students who know first-hand how to see the world on the cheap. It has insider tips and information for the socially conscious traveller and is more useful and opinionated than ever. Forged from dozens of squabbling principalities in the 19th century and rebuilt after two World Wars and 50 years of political division, Germany is a nation where thousands of different mindsets peacefully coexist. Roman ruins share the horizon with glass-and-steel corporate headquarters and, while grim-faced, punctual businessmen and traditional country-folk are going to sleep, proudly assertive gay communities, and party-happy youths are emerging ready to dance the night away in one of the many clubs. The landscape is also hugely varied with snow-capped Alps in the south, sandy beaches and mud flats in the north, and windswept heaths, sprawling lake plains, and castle-dotted river valleys falling in between. The book includes: Detailed maps Listings at all price levels for accommodation, food, attractions and more; Information on working, studying and volunteering in the region; Time and money saving tips 'Guides that penetrate the veneer of holiday brochures and mine the grit of real life' Economist. " The ideal companion for the independent traveller" - Sydney Sunday Telegraph.
