My mum helps me out a couple of weekends a month and takes my daughter out for a couple of hours as being a single parent with a daughter that wakes up if I turn the bath taps on, I don’t get much time to myself. When she brings her back my daughter usually has a new book or little toy. One book my mum bought my daughter was this ‘Let’s learn colours. A sparkly board book’.This book contains 10 board style pages. Each page introduces a new colour, blue, red, brown, green, purple, yellow, pink, orange, silver and gold. These pages contain either 5 or 6 different pictures of something in that colour, these pictures are teamed with smalls bits of sparkly paper in that colour like red sparkly paper for the red page, and so on, apart from blue, purple, brown and pink which all use silver sparkly paper for some reason.
The pictures for each colour are easily recognisable, for the yellow page there are pictures of a sun, lemons, bananas, a hat and a duckling. Each picture has a small part of colour missing and is replaced with sparkly paper making it fun for little readers and is something a bit different from normal colour learning books.Although my daughter doesn’t know her colours yet, when we are looking through this book she loves to identify the different objects and animals on each different page. The sparkly paper attracts her attention and when she points out the different things she always gives the paper a rub.
I’m not sure how much my mum paid for this board book, but I would definitely recommend it, unless the price was extortionate! It’s sparkly paper feature definitely make it different to other books of this nature and my daughter is using it to help her learn different colours.
