I hoped that the installation wouldn't take too long to do. But to my surprise you don't install this disk, you instead insert it and ... ...had to go to the letts help website. As there are no instruction booklets that come with the CD.
The letts help section was very well set up and easy to use and I found what the problem was quickly, without much hassle. I hoped that the installation wouldn't take too long to do. But to my surprise you don't install this disk, you instead insert it and the GCSE English interactive CD is all ready to use. So no memory space filled up!
But there was a problem. When it came up the sub headings, Help and Exit buttons, or any other the topics on it didn't work . So then I had to go to the letts help website. As there are no instruction booklets that come with the CD.

Well there was my problem...I used Internet Explorer! So I downloaded firefox instead. You can still use Internet Explorer if you prefer that browser, just make sure you keep IE as the default browser and you can just use the firefox browser for this CD.
There was other messing about to get it work still…every time I use this disk I have to get firefox working and type in: E:\index.HTML in the internet address bar. Also you have to make sure macromedia flash player is installed too (which is free of the internet).
**After all that, was it worth it and does it now work?**
Yes I'm glad to say everything worked after doing all that! (And I should hope so too!) Although is the learning any good?
You can straight away learn any of the 40 topics it has e.g, punctuation, novels and short stories, poetry, writing in the media e.t.c. for each of these you can do a list of things to go over and study. If your in a hurry you can do short tests, which are easy, quick to do and fun! You also read up on what you are suspected to do in the tests- but it does this in a fun interactive way. You can learn how to do things correctly, practice and remember what you have learnt. Theres lots of graphics and animations to help you remember the facts. It also contains glossary to help you memorise essential terms.
This sort of thing is great for studying and looking back and remembering what you have already learnt at school. I get bored easily revising on books, but the cd rom keeps me entertained! It is defiantly improving my English. I'm remembering more about what I shouldn't do & should do in English.
The other great thing about this cd rom is that it has mock exams and answers. So you do a full test yourself at home. You need a printer though for this, as you print out the mock exam and do it like a proper exam. You have 1 hour and 45 mins to complete it . Once your done you can print out the answers from the cd, mark your exam, see where you have gone right/wrong and how you can improve this. That way you won't make the same mistakes in the real exam! There's lots of advice on the cd and it has really helped me so far!
The cd is a great fun way of learning, its effective, simple and enjoyable, just like it says.
It took extremely long to get it working but I'm glad to say it was worth while.
The learning is fantastic! Although getting it to work brings the stars down!
**The Layout**
The layout is very simple & easy to use. You can easily switch tabs and find what your looking for, then learn it. The colour of the text are nice on the eyes and can easily be read and seen. The graphics and animations are simple, yet great to remember key facts that you can easily forget!
The pictures are very are very clear and everything on the screen can be easily viewed and read.

**How much does it cost and where can you buy it from?**
I got mine from Amazon and it cost £9.99. You can purchase it on many websites on the internet.
**System requirements**
Microsoft windows 98 second edition/windows ME/windows 2000 with service pack/windows XP professional or home edition/Windows Vista.
Also this cd rom uses the internet. So if you want to use these disks you must have internet compatible otherwise it won't work.
**Is It Right For Me?**
Suitable for all GCSE specification, including WJEC, CCEA and Scottish Standard Grade. It is suitable for 2006/2007 exams.
I recommend this if you already have firefox and adobe macromedia flash player installed as you won't have much hassle getting it to work. If you want something that won't take a long time to get working then I wouldn't recommend this! There's other cd roms that install easily and quickly, plus are just as good as learning and revising from!
