The lexmark 82cartridge is a decent ink cartridge that delivers all that you expect but nothing more and ends up being satisfactory. It is a black ink catridge compatible with the following printer series:
X5100 series Z55 series Z65 series
As you can see the lexmark 82 is not compatible with a lot of printers. Whenever i see other ink cartridges, their list of compatible printers is usually quite long but not this one. As a result the cartridge is not in as much demand as other cartridges and i often find that my local high street stores dont sell them or are out of stock.
The main problem with this cartridge is the price. Whenever i go to my local high street to buy ink i always find that this ink cartridge is always more expensive than most of the other ink cartridges for other lexmarks, as well as other printer brands. The cartridge usually retails in high street outlets roughly in the range of £24-£28 depending on where you go. This is quite expensive as there are other ink cartridges for other printers at far chaper prices.
Although slightly cheaper on the internet between £22-£25, the cartridge is still a bit expensive and is quite a drain on my bank balance.
There are however companies out there that produce remanufactured lexmark 82 ink cartridges by filling up original lexmark 82 cartridges with their own ink. Their ink however is not lexmark brand and although cheaper, their quality and endurance are rarely as good. These remanufactured ink cartridges retail roughly in the range of £15-£18.
Their are however good points about this ink cartridge. The lexmark 82 ink cartridge has an ink cycle of 600 pages and this is decent lastability compared to other ink cartridges. Most remanufactured cartridges have a cycle in the range of 460-480 pages.
It is a reliable cartridge with good quality printage. It is not the best but it is more than satisfactory for normal printing such as letters, documents etc. Also the printer is very easily usable. Just take of the strip and place into your printer with which it fits in very comfortably.
This however is about it and the fact that the cartridge is expensive balances out the good points of decent lastability and good quality.
I would only recommend this product if you have one of the printers above. Otherwise choose a printer which doesnt require this cartridge and therefore dont buy this because there are better out there in terms of value for money.

I guess I'm not very skilled at checking these things out - usually go to Inkfactory for my cartridges - their jet-tec seems quite good too for lexmark. jes ≈≈≈≈{; -)-{{::::: |||||<

Good review, I have Lexmark printers, which take the 16/26 cartridges. When looking around at printers, I have noticed that the cheaper the printer the more expensive the cartridges. Therefore prices even out in the long run. But I suppose it depends on how much printing you do.
